These front tie-downs mount directly to your truck’s frame so the camper’s weight is distributed evenly and kept low for better balance. By anchoring to the strongest part of the vehicle, you avoid the top-heavy feel that can lead to sway or shifting in crosswinds. The camper stays locked in place, and your truck handles naturally, even on long highway drives or rough backroads.
The brackets use pre-existing holes in the frame, so installation requires little to no drilling and no permanent modifications. Each piece mounts tight against the frame with minimal loss of ground clearance, keeping everything tucked up and out of the way. The setup comes with two front tie-downs and all necessary hardware for a clean, straightforward bolt-on fit.
Made from black powder-coated steel, the tie-downs resist corrosion and hold up through weather, road grime, and years of use. The durable finish helps protect against rust and wear so you don’t have to worry about weakening or damage over time.
When you’re not hauling a camper, pull out the removable arms and the brackets stay nearly invisible under the truck. The low-profile design keeps your vehicle looking stock while still being ready for your next trip.

Each arm includes two pin holes so you can extend it outward as needed to clear sidewalls or fenders. Two anchor holes let you fine-tune the angle for your turnbuckles (sold separately), giving you a snug, stable connection that keeps your camper from shifting under load.

These tie downs are sill working as advertised. I have travelled over 20,000 mi with them in various conditions with about 10 of that time in dirt roads or 4wd roads. Nothing too crazy, but with my camper and these tied downs I am confident that the camper will remain attached and be secure. It hardly moves around at all. They are worth the money and I can still remember how easily they installedvery welll thought out design and installation!

Hi Jim! I can see why that would be frustrating for sure. The good news is you usually don’t have to do anything drasticmost fixes come down to slightly repositioning the exhaust system rather than fully relocating it. That can mean loosening and adjusting a bolt-on hanger, adding a small spacer, or even tweaking the hanger position just enough to create some clearance. I’ll drop this article here since it walks through a few simple ways to fix it step-by-step, but overall you’re on the right track it’s typically just a matter of giving the exhaust a little more room so nothing is rubbing or under tension. This help article is about a hitch install but it still applies here.

Glad to hear you are liking them, Milton! And I agree, the TorkLift tie downs are superior to the HappiJac tie downs. They are just more secure and heavier duty. At least in my opinion. And that sounds like quite the trip! Was it just a camping trip or did you do some fishing and or hunting?

I reached out to the manufacturer. They advised that they think it is a combination of the Northern light camper anchor point location being situated so far back on the camper and possibly the front of the camper not being all the way against the bulkhead of the bed if it is moving forward still. Otherwise, everything looks typical of a truck camper and truck installation. If it has any room to slide forward, it will in a sudden braking situation.

Jenny thanks for your reply and diligence in reaching out to TorkFit. The NL camper does have forward bumpers for abutting the bulkhead. However when bulkhead contact is made the body of the my 21 Silverado makes contact with the fiberglass body of the camper. The pressure from a recent ‘sudden stop’ and ‘slide forward’ created enough pressure to chip paint on the truck. The bumpers make contact with the bulkhead about 10”-12” above the bed-bulkhead connection. The 90* corner at bottom, this should be the strongest area. I will install stop chocks at future loadings. I’ll also attempt to possibly install the TorkFits in a more vertical position. Thanks.

A year later, I just got back from camping trip. I love the easy set up of these hitches. I’m a 65 year old woman, and I can put these mounts on my truck in less than five minutes. Then, another 10 or 15 to put the chains and turn buckles on, make them tight. I usually drive about 5 miles maybe 10, go get gas, and give all the chains a shake to make sure they’re still tight. If not, spin the turnbuckles a time or Two. And off, I go. I am extremely happy with this investment. Of all the things I bought after buying the camper, this has brought me the most security and feeling of safety. Good luck, happy camping whatever you decide.
