A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

how to find the right tie down for my truck - custom camper tiedown

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

The units appeared to be well made and were nicely painted. I installed them on my F150. The tools and hardware supplied were of good quality and installation was straight forward. Two people would have been great, but I was able to install both sides in a little less than an hour. The holes all line up very well. I like these better than the previous units I had on my 2013, as they do not stick out as far - so less noticeable. The extension arms come out at a very nice angle just under the body. I find these units with quality I expected and I think they will be highly functional in attaching my camper.

These tiedowns were great. They fit my 2023 ford f350 4wd crew cab perfectly. They bolted on using existing holes and they included wire feeders to feed the bolts through all the holes. Everything was included in the kit and installation was pretty simple. Probably took an hour or so. Directions were very good and easy to follow. They hold my camper down very securely and are adjustable for various widths. Also easy to drill different hokes for custom widths. I highly recommend this tie down for this model truck.

by:

Was delivered in two days as promised. Box was beat up but everything was still in it. Parts are way to tough to hurt
Pretty easy for a 73 year old guy to install.
One tip though, on the driver's side install the 1/2x5 bolt with the bolt head to the inside. Gives a little more clearance with the fuel tank. This is opposite of what the directions say.
Thanks Nick for the great service.

by:

One side fit perfect. Other side strait out of the box had a huge booger weld on the back that made it not fit. Ground the boogers off so it would sit flush and then the bolt holes don't line up. Never mind that the website said free delivery in 3 days when I placed the order. Next morning shipping pushed another day. Then the next push another day. Ended up taking 8 days for them to arrive. When I called about it no replacement brackets available for 3 weeks.

by:

I had the mountings professionally attached to the frame. The hatches can be easily removed when not in use( and I would recommend that to keep them from being stolen). Using chains and turnbuckles, I feel very comfortable with my truck camper staying where it is.. does not rock, very solid.
It’s nice to feel secure about my camper staying firmly attached.
It was worth the investment.

by:

Tommy C recommended the TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs. The Instructions are great and very easy to follow. They supply some cool wire helpers to hold bolts in the frame for you. All went very smoothly and a very secure. I love how solid the Camper feels on the truck.

by:

The product was easy to install, a bit awkward with only one person on the front tie downs but if you had an extra set of hands then that problem would be solved.
The top bolt hole on the front passenger side was out by about 1/8" but I resolved that by being able to get a drill on the inside of the frame and drilling through that way to allow the bolt to go through both truck frame and tie down. If it had been on the driver's side then it may have been an issue with the gas tank in the way. All is now installed and ready to go,

Front and rear tie downs came in two separate boxes. Back tie down box was fine but front tie down box was broken open with one of the T bolts hanging out. Fortunately both T bolts were in the box. There have been numerous reviews about bad packaging and parts missing and beat up so I think whoever is packaging these parts should take heed and do a better job. The rear tie downs went on fine with the help of the video instructions. The front however were harder and required me to grind down the T bolts so they would fit correctly (see pictures). I also had to enlarge the elongated holes to get the bolt in. Also the order of the instructions was in my mind incorrect. I installed the angled bracket supports first and then the main brackets. My recommendation would be to post a video of the installation procedures like they did for the back tie downs. All the parts were well made except the front T bolts and I am hopeful that they will last a long time. The pricing in my mind is high but they appear to be the only game in town so it is what it is. I do recommend these as they seem very strong and well designed.

by:

Heavy duty product. Issues, the instructional book was not sufficient for a tricky installation involving three bolt fishing wires and installation of bolts from inside the frame. Had to search You Tube for visual instructions. One 2" bolt missing from supplies and neither of the top locking bolt holes were align with the frame hole. Including a link to a visual demonstration of installation would be awesome.

by:

Extremely nice. Well packaged delivered fast great communication. The parts went on the truck easier than expected and very well engineered.

by:

They do exactly what you think they'd do. I actually had to swap them from one truck to another (went from an double cab to a crew cab) and TorkLift actually sent me a whole new hardware kit. The hardest part is fishing the bolt/nut setup on the driver's side as the gas can is in the way, other than that it's easy peasy.

by:

Awesome works great. Easy to install. All parts were included. Use to tie-down truck camper. Secure tie-down. Many miles down the road and still a secure connection. Fast delivery. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Not too difficult to install. Instructions are great. One hole did not exist on my frame so I drilled it and painted it. Excellent product.

by:

Jason was great to work with on getting the proper camper tie downs for my truck as it was a new truck and was a bit confused as to the proper application.
I had them installed within an hour. Even an armature bolt twister could do this!
I have used my camper a lot since putting these on my truck and will tell you these are THE MOST SECURE ANCHORS I have ever used on any of my trucks PERIOD!
You will not make a bad decision going with this product. I recommend these tie downs over any product available! I Don't normally give recommendations or endorse products. These I am truly impressed with.

by:

No worries about securing the camper to the truck using the Torklift tie-downs. Third camper/truck I have used these on and would not consider any other option.

I like to thank Lori with etrailer and guiding me through the process of getting , Front and rear,
Torklift Camper Tie-downs -Custom Frame Mounts. Well doing research this was the best way to go for tying down and stabilizing a camper. Torklift camper tie-downs are solid well built!
I had ordered Mounts on Monday and received them on Friday . I Had the tie-downs on my , 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 by Saturday. The whole process was awesome , real easy installation. Great help with videos and instructions on mounting tie-downs on my truck provided by etrailer. I’m going to use them on my pop-up Hallmark Camper. Thank you for all your help etrailer.

by:

I think they’re awesome… put them with the quick gun hold downs and they cant be beat. Keep the camper in place and makes it so much easier.. I own a Dodge Ram Mega cab and they were an easy install, I cant speak to the other truck manufacturers.

Instruction regarding removing brake cable were not real helpful. The e brake adjustment bolt that the instructions say to loosen is in a bracket that does not allow you to get a wrench on it, you need a 1/2” socket that’s about 4” deep. I ended up putting a socket over it and then turned it with vise grips( not ideal). The instructions also say to pry open the tabs on the e brake coupler
but nothing needed done with tabs I had to get a small punch and drive the loose end of the cable out of the coupler as it’s extremely tight in the coupler.
After finally getting the e brake cables out of the way the rest of the install went ok. I’m a bit disappointed in the fit as the Tie down inserts come into contact with the very end of the truck running boards and have to be tapped in scuffing the end cap on the factory running boards. A little fine tuning needs to be done to make these everything they say they are. 2022 Ram 2500

Best camper tie down.

by:

The frame mounted front tie downs are as good as expected. They bolted on fairly easily with some fishing of bolts through existing frame holes. I have a F250 supercab/long bed with wheel to wheel running boards. Both Torklift and eTrailer websites said the tiedowns would fit with my running boards but they didn't. eTrailer did offer to pay to return the tie-downs but I chose to keep them. I was hoping for a discount on new cab length running boards for my troubles but they would only offer 5% so I skipped that and modified my existing boards myself. I'm going with 4 stars because of the confusion on the web site and a few typo's in the instructions but the tiedowns are very nice.

I do have camper tie-downs for a 2007 Toyota Tundra with 8' bed but there are none from HappiJac. • Hitch to Use TorkLift Tie Downs on a 2007 Toyota Tundra 8 Foot Bed
All of the TorkLift tie downs for the 2007 Toyota Tundra do require at least a 4 inch by 4 inch side plate on the vehicle's hitch to bolt the tie downs to. If the hitch on your vehicle does not have a 4x4 side plate, you do have to install a new hitch with larger side plates to install the tie downs. I have attached a photo of how the tie downs attach to the aftermarket hitch. For the tie downs on a 8 foot bed, I recommend TorkLift part # TLT2305 for the front and part # TLR3500 for the...
