Surge-type actuator features a corrosion-resistant composite master cylinder and a primed finish. Adjustable down channel lets you mount different coupler attachments (sold separately) in 1 of 5 positions. Bolt-on or weld-on application.

Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 5 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.
This actuator is great for tall trailers. This is because the adjustable channel is positioned so that the mounted coupler can sit below the actuator tube, allowing for a greater drop than with a standard center-mounted channel. As a result, you can line up your tall trailer with your tow vehicle's hitch for a level setup.

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Demco hydraulic trailer brake actuator for drum brakes. It is an adjustable channel down design and has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. The adjustable channel right here has five different mounting positions for the coupler that you install in there. Now the coupler that goes in there is sold separately. On the very back it uses a composite master cylinder which is very durable and efficient.
It's a glass reinforced nylon construction, which will resist rust and corrosion, has a very large reservoir to provide increased capacity for the brake fluid, and if you notice at the top it does use the automotive style diaphragm cap, which will create a completely closed system to help prevent contamination of the brake fluid. On the inside of this actuator it uses an acetone coat powder lining, provides a nice, smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out. You'll notice the breakaway hook and cable is all included here. It has a snap hook. Just unhook it here on the end. And this will ensure a secure connection to the breakaway lever.
Now this is a heavy duty steel construction, has a nice prime finish to it. It has a bolt on or weld on installation. If you do bolt it on, it does require a half inch by 4 1/2 inch long grade five bolts for bolting on. Those are not included. This part is made in the USA.
Application for this is trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. Gross towing weight capacity is 20,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight is 2,000 pounds. The channel width on the adjustable channel right here, the inside is three inches. The channel height from very bottom to the top is right at 12 inches.
And this is designed to mount on a straight, three inch wide trailer tongue. And this part also goes by the model number of DA20.That should do it for the review on the Demco hydraulic trailer brake actuator for drum brakes with the adjustable channel down design and the 20,000 pound weight capacity.
