Features to know about

Built Strong for Everyday Towing: All-Steel, Computer-Cut Construction

This setup is made to handle the strain of regular towing without flexing or wearing out. The base plate brackets are computer-cut from solid steel and bolt directly to the frame, creating a rigid connection point for your tow bar. The black powder coat finish resists rust and road debris, keeping everything solid and looking clean over time.

Reliable Connection Every Time: Fixed Draw Bar Design

When you’re lining up to tow, you want a stable, consistent hookup. The fixed-bar design gives you that—the front arms stay in place so the attachment point never changes. It’s simple, strong, and ready whenever you are, with no removable parts to misplace or re-align.

Set Up With Confidence: Hardware and Instructions Included

Everything needed to mount the brackets comes right in the box, including hardware and instructions. The design bolts into place without special fabrication, so it’s straightforward if you’re taking on the job yourself or having a shop handle it.

Works With Your Existing Roadmaster Tow Bar System

This crossbar-style base plate pairs up with Roadmaster tow bars when used with the quick-disconnect crossbar (910021-00 – sold separately). That compatibility keeps your setup consistent and ensures the tow bar connects smoothly every time you’re ready to roll.

Base plate brackets attach to your vehicle's frame to provide fixed attachment points for your tow bar.

Very happy with the service I received, and so pleased with the base plate easy to install. Pics soon. Thank you etrailer

by:

Delivery of the products was EXTREMELY fast.
The
installation instructions referred to a page with adjustment instructions but the page was not included and I couldn't find the missing page on-line either. Installation was a bit more complicated than I thought it was going to be.
Very sturdy product. It should do a great job for me.

made strong took about 3 hours my tow hooks on my suzuki samural were bent out so that slow me down a bit i used 5 pound sledge out bang them straight then bolts went in i turn the front wheels to the right so to drill the hole in the frame used small bit then went for larger one work out well follow direction they did work but lacking illustration .works good

by:

A little scary at first but went on my Geo Tracker easily. Extremely solid once installed. Made the tow from CA to Ohio a breeze. I did have to make some adapters to fit my towbar but that's not the fault of your product.

by:

The product was received as expected. The brackets aligned with all points and bolted up first time. The hardware was great, except two lock washer short (but not a problem as I had extras in my parts bins) and double the number of flat washers (extras for the next project). But is was great to have all optional bolts, washers and nuts supplied. Instructions were easy to follow and complete with one excepting. I need a bracket part from the old brackets and that was not included in the instructions, but was clear as I aligned everything in the pre assembly.

by:

High Quality Product. Install instructions don't go into enough detail in step by step. A little vague for the Non-Expert installer. Nut Plates provided for rear mounting bolts are wider than the holes available in sub-frame for install. Had to mill sides of pads to get them into the frame for install. No instructions or fish wires to get them into place. Had to manufacture own fish wire system to get the plates in place for install. Once mods were completed and hardware designed and built, installation was pretty much straight forward. I would not consider this kit for a novice installer. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the "wide" nut plate situation and my redesign (width reduction)

by:

I finally have my parts today,I waited 5 Days but I Guess that's How It Is.The Set up was Not Hard at all,I had all the parts to Install it ,And Yes I will buy Again if I Need something else!

by:

The product fits perfectly. Installation is somewhat easy except drilling the opening on the frame. The arms are holding down very strong, good quality.

by:

Everything is perfect! There was no problem with fit, durability or quality! I am very happy with the products you sent me!

by:

Did have to cut off factory tow hook with a hack saw. Straight forward install otherwise and good quality.

by:

Perfect fit for my 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ using a Roadmaster Stowmaster 5000.

by:

Remove bumper and front wheels. Bracket B is the only hole to be drilled for installing. Bracket C bolts thru existing steering box bolt hole. Bracket E bolts from main bar A to existing rigging eye in your samurai to anchor and secure the base plate. (See pictures) hope this helps. Only negative for me is the base plate sticks out in front instead of below bumper. All parts needed for installation where in the box.

by:

installed the tow brackets per the instructions - the pictures in the instructions were small and weren't real helpful so I contacted Customer Service which sent me detailed photos of an installation on a similar vehicle - helped a lot! Thanks! Within a week we were off on a cross country trip down to Mexico, put on 6000 miles and then retorqed the bracket bolts. This is a good product, easy to use, and we've used it pretty hard - no problems so far!

by:

Very easy to install and well built product. Instructions made the job go smoothly. With the tight tolerance on the backing plate bolt spacing, I had to do a small amount of filing on the 1989 Jeep Cherokee frame holes so that the plates would slide easily through. Other than that, no real problems. As mentioned in the instructions, I had to cut small sections out of the top and bottom of the bumper for the new brackets but the install looks really clean.

by:

This thing is a really frustrating. For $xxx it should be a lot better even from the beginning where people understand the install situation. It isn't really a bolt on as step one is cut and grind off the factory tow hook. This isn't mentioned by RM. The instructions are a joke - they mix up front and back all the while telling you to read the instructions closely. And the support is really frustrating. If you have 3 questions with photos, etc, they answer only one question per email. You should stop selling this unit until you install it with a video on some vans of maybe different years and maybe RM will listen to you and update their instructions and as far as I can tell so far the hardware needs at least some different hardware. Until then sell the RM Westy front bumper with Clevises already on it for about the same money.

by:

Very satisfied. They fit perfectly.

by:

Great product. Strong and holding up to about 6k mi of use so far. Only issue is it is not a perfect fit. I own a 94 and 95 miata and had to trim a little metal for them to slide in. They could fit if you were willing to hammer them into slot, but would most likely cause paint loss.

by:

The construction was good - very solid and well-finished. The fit was first-rate; all the holes lined up and installation was smooth as silk. I haven't put it to the test (yet), but we'll see how that goes very soon.

by:

Works great, I only wish I had ordered the hidden brackets instead, kind of big on my Miata.

by:

Ordered base plates to tow the Miata. Parts arrived very quickly and reasonably well packaged, Parts fit just as they should have.

Very happy with transaction and will order from this vendor again.

by:

The base plates were as advertised and work great! Prompt delivery and excellent product.

by:

These mounts fit great on my 97 miata and were easy to install after removing the splash pan and air deflector to gt to the frame. The tow hooks were already removed by a P.O. Use locktite to make sure the bolts stay tight for a long time but check them regularly.

by:

Simple to install. Took no time at all

  • Where Does Base Plate Mount On 1999 Mazda Miata
That is correct, base plates like the Roadmaster # 711-2 and # 711-4 use the front tie down plate mounts as mounting points. The # 711-4 with removable arms will use the front tie down plate mount and stabilizer bar mounts. The # 711-2 uses the front tie down plate mount and frame. I have attached the written instructions below. In addition to the base plates you will also need the following: -Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520 -Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety...

  • Base Plate Measurements for Roadmaster Base Plates to Flat Tow a 1991 Mazda Miata

  • Base Plates, Tow Bar, Safety Cables, and Wiring to Flat Tow 1991 Mazda Miata MX-5
The first item you will need to flat tow your 1991 Mazda Miata are base plates. We carry two different options of base plates for your vehicle. First are the XL Plates, # 711-4. These have removable drawbars held in place with a pin and clip. With the drawbars removed the base plates are virtually invisible. For these, trimming of the spoiler, air damn, grille, or plastic fascia may be required for installation. The other option are Standard Plates, # 711-2. These are fixed brackets and...

  • Is Installing Base Plate on a 1991 Mazda Miata for Flat Towing Difficult
You are correct in that base plate kit installs vary quite a bit from vehicle to vehicle. The # 711-2 which is a fit for your 1991 Mazda Miata is actually one of the easiest to install that I have ever seen. I attached a link to the install instructions for you to check out but basically you just hold them in place and run bolts through them to in place. The XL part # 711-4 is also a fit but requires an additional bracket but it still installs pretty easily.

  • What is the Most Economical Way to Flat Tow a 1994 Mazda Miata with a Nissan Murano
I recommend going with the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 711-4 for your 1994 Mazda Miata because it has removable arms which will give your Miata more of an OEM look when you are not towing it with your Nissan Murano. A more economical option would be the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit # 711-2, but it does not have removable arms. You can use the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, 5,000 lbs # 63180 that you referenced, but you will also need the Adapter # RM-025 and if you choose the base...
