The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the vehicle owners manual for the proper towing procedure. The brackets on the Roadmaster base plates, # 711-2, are 4-1/2 inches by 3-1/2 inches at the widest and tallest parts. The slotted holes are 1-1/2 inches apart on center and are 1/2 inch wide. I made a picture for you to hang on the fridge.
If you can tell me what tow bar you have, I can determine if it is compatible or not. Some tow bars require an adapter. The base plates themselves bolt directly to tie down mounts already present on the vehicle. These mounts have weld nuts (the threaded parts you see) and the supplies bolts will secure the base plates to the mounts.
In addition to the base plates and tow bar you will also need safety cables like # RM-643. You will also need a light solution for the Miata. I recommend a magnetic light kit like # RM-2120.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the proportional Even Brake, # RM-9400, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
