Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a look together at this CURT Custom Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms. Now, this base plate kit has been designed for all of the years and versions of the Ram 1500 that you see there on your screen. And on custom-fit parts such as this base plate kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our Vehicle Fit Guide here at etrailer. Simply input the year, make and model of your vehicle and answer any other questions that it might have for you, and our Fit Guide will confirm if this base plate kit will work for you, or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, what this base plate does is it bolts directly to the frame of your Ram, and it's going to give you solid, secure attachment points for your tow bar.
And then once this is installed, you're gonna be able to connect a compatible tow bar, which is obviously sold separately from this kit. And then you're gonna be able to safely tow your Ram with all four wheels on the ground. Now, this is going to work with CURT and Blue Ox tow bars, and it is adaptable for Roadmaster tow bars as well. So, when you hit the road, it's gonna be very easy to get these tabs or arms in place. As you can see, I do have them in place now.
And when you are done flat towing, these are gonna be very easy to remove, and once they're removed, you're really not even gonna know that you got a base plate kit attached to the front of your truck. So, let me see if I can show you. Hopefully you can see here, we do have these rings here, and they are attached to some connection points here, so I'm just gonna go ahead and pull that ring back with my finger, and then I'm gonna twist, and then that's going to allow me to remove this tab. And as you can see here, I just wanted to give you a closeup of that connection point there that you're gonna pull back on. And then when you're ready to flat tow and you need to put the arms or the tabs back in, you're just going to slide it in, give it a push, and then twist it, like so, and then it just clicks into place just like that, and then you're gonna be ready to connect your tow bar.
So, that's how easy this is going to be to get those arms in and out. And the distance between the brackets when installed is gonna be about 38 1/2 inches. The bracket height's gonna be about 17 inches. And the base plate itself, it's made from heavy-duty welded steel. It's finished, as you can see, with a black powder-coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion.
And then CURT is giving you all of the necessary mounting hardware and safety cables. And as you can see here, I attempted to kind of loosely put it together with the hardware here just to kinda give you an idea of where the hardware is going to go, so everything that you see here. Also, I failed to mention that you are going to get these caps for the holes here, so when you remove the arms, you can pop these caps right into those holes there, and that's gonna keep those holes free from dirt and debris and things like that, so that's a nice added bonus that's included with this base plate kit. So, you are still going to need to purchase a tow bar if you don't already have a compatible tow bar, and we do have you covered here at etrailer. You can check out those options here on our website. This is gonna bolt to your frame. It may require some minor trimming and may require the removal of things like factory tow hooks, but these are going to include instructions to guide you through all of that. Very easy to install with one person. Instructions were ok. Would definitely recommend this baseplate for anyone with Jeep Wrangler.
Easy to install, once bumper cover is removed. The supplied bolts were barely long enough. They should be about a 1/2 inch longer. Once installed, the baseplate is barely noticeable and looks like a factory component.
These tuck nicely under the truck out of sight, high quality product, really prefer them over the other brands have used in the past. I like that the inserts can be removed vs a fixed base plate, like some other brands.
After a little help from a friend and a little bit of cutting on the car, everything worked out great!

2024 Bronco Big Bend with "capable" steel bumper. I used an angle grinder to cut two about 3"x6" openings for the hooks to stick through the steel skidplate. Unsure how it would work with the plastic one, but this worked pretty well and allows the D rings to stay which was my personal preference.
High quality and easy to install...
Until I busted the welded on nut off while attaching the skid plate, as it seemed to be a standard vs. metric thread. THe skidplate bolts will not work, new bolts must be purchased to attach the skid plate as they were not provided in my kit and the instructions make no mention of this issue. I located some standard bolts I had on hand that solved the issue in an effective but ugly way. Very disappointed as I'll have to R&R one side if Curt provides a replacement, and find black in color bolts to match the skidplate factory look. So, beware the skidplate threads... otherwise lovely.
Everything fit like it was supposed to. Not to difficult to install. A couple hours at most. Seems to be a quality product. Thanks
This was a quick install on my 2011 Wrangler Rubicon. Contrary to the Q&A advice that the c38FR (Curt 70102) base plate does not fit the Rubicon with the base stock Rubicon bumper, it indeed does fit. The base plate tucks up within an inch or so of the bottom of the bumper. Base plate C33FR (Curt 70110) recommended by eTrailer and Curt for the stock Wrangler Rubicon would hang down 4 inches below the bumper and would not be a great look!

The hardest part was getting the outside nuts off the bumper.
Use long extensions and a swivel and a short 18 mm socket.
Other than that it went smoothly. But my friend has a lift so it was a lot easier to do it all baseplate , wiring, and brake buddy cable.

Product worked great! Installation was not that difficult, but instructions were xeroxed causing pictures to be difficult to see detail. I was able to go online and see full color pictures with the ability to zoom in. Took about 2-2.5 hours to install

Installed the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit (#C64ER) onto my 2019 Ford Ranger XLT FX4. Could not have been easier. Directions were excellent! Time required was about 2 hours. Great product!
This base plate kit worked very well with the Blue Ox Acclaim non-binding tow bar - coupler for 2" ball (code BX4330). We towed a 4 door Rubicon over 2000 miles and the setup worked great. The bar is very easy to couple and uncouple. The removable arms work exactly as advertised. I did have to cut two small slots in my custom bumper to install the base plate, but the slots are not in strength critical areas. The installation instruction are clear and good.

Easy to install with typical tools found in about anyone's garage. Took maybe an hour or so to do. We have pulled our Ranger about 2000 miles behind our RV without any issue.
Wasn't to hard to install with a helper to get bumper off my truck. Had bumper pulled and installed baseplates in about hour and a half.
Fit like it was made for it. :) Only issue was the fishing wires for the bolts in the frame. They would not fit through the holes in the locking plates so I couldn't use them. I used a magnet stick instead and it worked well. I did not put on the safety cables around the frame. I figure since this thing bolts to the steering box, if it comes off so does the steering box and then I have much bigger issues that these cables are not going to help.

Great Base plate kit! Very easy to follow instructions even with my aftermarket bumper with winch. It fit perfect. The only issue I have is where the safety cables attach to the base plate….the cable connectors are too big to fit through the holes because the Jeep’s frame blocks part of the hole. See photo with red circle. I will have to get a smaller connector.

This is not the first time I have purchased from ETrailer, but by far the best experience yet. I was treading in uncharted waters and decided to call, i happened to get Paula S. And she was able to educate me on the subject at hand. She also made sure I was ordering all the right parts for the task at hand. I received the two boxes of parts and assembled everything on the vehicle and noticed i was missing something so I called back and talked to Ashley. She assured me that Paula did order the missing part and that it would be here the next day. (Delayed due to holiday) You can sure tell both ladies love their jobs and liked taking care of us customers. I will always try to deal with them when I need something towing related.
Jaime was very helpful in getting the right baseplate for my Jeep Cherokee and in retuning the wrong item which I ordered myself.
The baseplate installed easily and will be used for the first time next week. Also, the curt base plate did not require any trimming whatsoever of the plastics on the front of the car.
