When you’re not towing, this base plate practically disappears. The hidden design keeps the front of your vehicle looking clean and seamless, and the brackets don’t stick out past the bumper. The removable arms twist out easily so there’s nothing to bump your legs on, and receiver covers plug the openings to keep dirt and debris out for smooth connections next time you tow.
The removable arms use a simple twist-to-lock system that makes it easy to connect or disconnect your tow bar in seconds. Just insert, rotate until it locks, and secure with the pin. When you’re done towing, pull the pin, twist again, and remove. The setup is straightforward and secure—ideal for those who like a fast, no-fuss connection every time.
This base plate bolts directly to the chassis using the included hardware, spreading towing forces evenly to help protect your suspension from stress. The sturdy steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, delivering reliability through long-distance travel and all kinds of weather.
The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a solid, reliable link. If you already have a Roadmaster or Demco tow bar you like, adapters (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately) make it easy to connect with this base plate. Integrated mounting points let you add an electrical connector bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and accessible up front.
Installation is simple for anyone comfortable turning wrenches at home. The kit bolts directly to your chassis with included hardware—no welding needed. With an 18" distance between brackets and a 14" bracket height, you can plan your setup precisely and get a solid fit that’s ready for thousands of miles of dependable towing.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
