When you’re not towing, this setup keeps your front end looking clean. The hidden design and removable arms mean nothing sticks out past the bumper once you’re done, so you won’t be bumping into any metal when you walk by. Receiver covers plug into the empty sockets to keep dirt and debris out and give it a finished look.
Each arm slides into the receiver and locks in place with a simple twist, then secures with the pull pin. When it’s time to disconnect, just pull the pin, rotate, and remove. It’s a solid design that makes connecting or removing the tow bar fast and straightforward, whether you’re in your driveway or at the campsite.
The base plate bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required—and its sturdy design spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help reduce stress on your suspension. The durable steel build is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, giving you confidence for long hauls and changing weather conditions.
This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure, reliable connection. If you’re using a Roadmaster tow bar, just add adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately). Demco users can use adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector bracket so your wiring stays neat and ready to plug in.
It’s a bolt-on installation that uses included mounting hardware—no welding required. Some drilling and trimming may be needed depending on your setup, but the process is direct and manageable with basic tools. Specs help you plan your build: distance between brackets is 34-1/2" and bracket height is 24-1/2".

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
