If you want your vehicle to look clean and uncluttered when you’re not towing, this setup delivers. The completely hidden design keeps the front end seamless, and the removable arms twist off quickly so nothing protrudes past the bumper. Snap-in receiver covers keep out dirt and debris, making sure the arms slide back in smoothly next time you hook up.
Hooking up doesn’t have to be a struggle. Each arm slides into its receiver, twists until it locks, and is secured by a simple pull pin. When you’re done towing, just pull the pin, rotate the arm, and remove it—it’s that straightforward. The twist-lock attachment makes connection and removal fast whether you’re in your driveway or at a campsite.
The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit bolts directly to your chassis with included hardware—no welding needed. Its sturdy steel design spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on your suspension. Powder coating resists rust and corrosion so it stays reliable through thousands of miles of towing.
Already running a tow bar you like? This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure hookup and can be adapted for use with Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041) tow bars—adapters sold separately. Integrated mounting points let you add an electrical connector bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and easy to reach.
If you like tackling projects yourself, this kit’s bolt-on installation is designed to be clear and manageable. It attaches right to the chassis using the included mounting hardware—no welding required. Once installed, you’ve got a durable, hidden base plate ready for long-distance flat towing whenever you are.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
