If you like your setup to stay clean when you’re not towing, this design keeps things looking seamless. The brackets don’t stick out past the front of the vehicle, and the removable arms twist out in seconds when you’re done towing. Snap in the included receiver covers to keep dirt and debris out of the sockets and keep that finished look.

Connecting or disconnecting takes just a few steps. Each arm slides into the receiver, twists until it locks, and secures with a pin. When you’re finished towing, pull the pin, rotate to unlock, and slide the arms out. It’s a simple twist-lock system that makes setups fast whether you’re at home or at camp.

This base plate bolts securely to the chassis—no welding required. Its sturdy design helps distribute towing forces evenly to reduce stress on the suspension during long trips. The durable steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, so it stays strong through all kinds of weather and road conditions.
Whether you run a Blue Ox, Roadmaster, or Demco tow bar, this base plate can make it work. It pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars and can be adapted for use with Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041) setups—adapters sold separately.
Everything bolts up directly to factory mounting points using the included hardware—no welding needed. The design even includes integrated mounting points for an electrical connector bracket (sold separately) so you can keep your wiring organized up front. The distance between brackets is 20" and bracket height is 13-1/2", giving you clear reference points for planning your setup.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
