If you like a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this setup keeps things tidy. The hidden design doesn’t stick out past the front of your vehicle, and the arms come off with a quick twist. install was a bit involved but a few hours in the shop with the grinder, cut off wheel, drill and reamer and it was in. Difficulty on a 1-10 scale about 7. Everything fit as stated and has worked perfectly. You can barely notice it after install.
Base plate was as described. Directions were easy to follow. I’m not the best mechanically inclined person but I installed it myself without difficulty.
We ordered this part due to a front end accident with the vehicle we tow. The replacement was installed by a very competent Auto Body Repair garage here in Haverhill, MA. The original bar was installed by me 3 years ago and it was a breeze. It operated perfectly and we never had a problem. The accident we had with the tow vehicle bent it so we ordered the new one. You have a great product!
The Blue Ox Base Plate is a high quality product and the step by step instruction booklet made installation uncomplicated.
Overall the product itself looks very high-quality. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars are:
1) Provided instructions are printed in black & white with 2 pages per page in low resolution. Pretty much worthless. You need a view them from website and print your own.
2) Instructions are very unspecific. If you are installing on your own, you will need to figure a bunch out on your own. Not a problem for somebody who generally works on cars, but don't don't expect 100% coverage in the instructions.
Shopping list: Loctite red, cutting lube, 13/32" bit or 2. There are are 18 drills neeeded.
I chose this drawbar because of the way it is so concealed when not in use. I felt the installation instructions were easy to follow. I have towed my 2006 Honda CRV thousands and thousands of miles behind my RV flawlessly. The Alcan, Glennallen, Parks and Seward Highways have all been conquered with my Blue Ox set up. I believe etrailer.com sells quality products at very competitive prices with great customer service. I'm writing this review because they check back with me after 1 year of use to see if I was still happy with my purchase. Five stars all the way!

Perfect! No complaints.
Baseplate and directions were dead on.
Installation was pretty easy, I took my time, 5hrs, that includes going to the store to buy #8 bolts and nuts for them. I installed this base plate on a 2006 honda crv AWD
and I saw no need for the nuts that they supply with the 14" wire attached to them.
I just used regular nuts, the access to the nuts was not that bad and did not slow me down. If I had to do it again I could probably do it in 2hrs or so.
I am sending some pictures of my installation of the base plate and the wiring harness (TM783130) and the blue ox tow bar on my 2005 Honda CRV. It worked out OK although the instruction for the base plate ( BX2238) installation instructions could be improved some. Everything is installed and operational. Have towed the Honda 150 miles satisfactorily. Thanks for your interest.
