The correct Blue Ox Base Plate Kit for your 2012 Honda CR-V is part # BX2258, not part # BX2238 which is for an older 2005 - 2006 Honda CR-V. The attachment points are different between the two systems which is why they are not cross compatible.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit is a custom fit so very minimal modifications are needed to make it work. It has removable arms so it will provide a clean look while not in tow. For a compatible tow bar, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar part # BX7380 because it has a self-aligning design which means you don't have to have the toad perfectly level with the tow vehicle in order to disconnect it. The Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar also comes with safety cables so that is one less thing you have to buy.
