You're hooking up a heavy trailer, and there's no room for error. Too much weight drags your truck down, too little makes your trailer wander. This pintle hitch has a built-in scale so you know you're safe for the road.
Without a built-in scale, you've got two choices: haul the trailer to a weigh station or mess with a separate gauge. This hitch saves that trip. The built-in scale shows how much tongue weight's pressing down on your truck. Too much squats the rear end and lifts your steering. Too little and the trailers dancing all over the road. Now you can balance your load before you ever leave the spot where you hooked up.
Some days you're hauling an enclosed trailer loaded with tools, other days it's a flatbed or equipment hauler. That usually means keeping one hitch for your pintle trailers and another for standard couplers. Then you have to stop everything you're doing and swap it out before you can get back to work. With this pintle hitch, you only need one. Weigh Safe 2" and 2-5/16" steel hitch balls (WS96KR and WS39ZR sold separately) fit the same platform, so you can switch from pintle to ball towing without wasting all that time and energy.
Pintle attachment cannot be used in the rise position and is compatible only with Weigh Safe steel balls.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this Weigh Safe pintle hitch with built-in scale for your three inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, one of the standout features of this hitch is going to be this built-in tongue weight scale. So instead of guessing your trailer, if it's loaded right, you're gonna know every time that you hook up because of this scale. It's gonna make it very easy to measure your tongue weight.
So that's gonna eliminate the need for separate or commercial scales. And it's also going to make towing a lot safer. So you're gonna have less sway, better braking, and way more peace of mind knowing that your trailer is properly loaded. Now this is a serious piece of hardware. This is rated up to 22,000 pounds with a 2,200 pound tongue weight limit.
So this is going to be great for your heavy duty trucks and your big trailers. If you're hauling heavy equipment, oversized campers, or really big trailers, this thing is built to handle all of that in your three inch trailer hitch receiver. Now this pintle hitch is compatible with lunette rings of all sizes, and I wanted to give you a brief demonstration of how easy this is going to be to use. So this does have this tethered safety pin and clip. I'm gonna go ahead and remove that.
We've got a lever right here and I'm gonna pull on that and that's going to allow me to lift this latch up. And so I'm gonna be able to easily drop my lunette ring down, bring the latch down, it's gonna automatically latch, and then I'll just replace the safety pin and clip and I'm good to go. Now this is going to give you about an eight inch drop, which is going to help you keep your trailer level with your taller trucks. And this is going to be pretty easy to get that adjustment that you're looking for. So you're gonna get two of these keys and I'm just gonna use one here and that's going to allow me to easily unlock and remove this dual pin slider lock.
So as you can see, that comes right out. And so then I'm gonna be able to get that height adjustment that I'm looking for, just like that. And then of course you'll replace the dual pin slider lock where you want that at. But I also wanted to show you that if you do pick up the Weigh Safe compatible balls for this platform, again, those balls are not included with this. And if you want to remove the pintle hook attachment, you'll just remove this pin here and then that's going to allow you to easily remove that pintle hook attachment. And then you're gonna be able to drop in the Weigh Safe 2-5/16 inch or two inch balls. So very flexible in that way. I'm gonna replace the pin here, make sure that's flush, get my shank here and put that back on the shank here. Now we do have this designed to also come with the balls. Again, this is only gonna come with the pintle hook attachment, but if you would rather have a 2-5/16 inch and a two inch ball included with this as well, we do have that kitted together. And so you can find those options here at etrailer.com and if you need any help finding them, feel free to reach out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. So this has an all steel build with this matte black textured powder coat finish. It's gonna do a great job of keeping this protected from rust and corrosion. Giving you some measurements here. Measuring from the center of our pintle hook attachment to the center of our first hitch pin hole, we're sitting about eight inches. Moving over to the center of the second hitch pin hole, a little over nine inches. And then from the center of the second hitch pin hole to the end of the shank, about 2-3/8 inches. So again, this is gonna slide into your three inch trailer hitch receiver. This weighs a little over 35 pounds. I wanted to tell you that this pintle attachment is not gonna be compatible with the aluminum Weigh Safe drop hitches. This pin hook attachment was designed to be only used with the steel product line only. Just so you're aware of that. So if you're regularly maxing out towing loads with a big truck and you want a piece of mind that comes with more capacity and that great built-in scale, then the three inch version is going to be really worthy of your consideration. But again, if this is overkill for you, we have the same setup for your 2-1/2 inch and your two inch. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
