Features to know about

Stop Fighting the Wheel on Long Drives

You've had tough experiences while driving your rig. You white-knuckled when a semi blasts past and nudged things back on course through heavy winds. It's exhausting. With this stabilizer in place, the coach tracks straight instead of wandering and it cuts down on those constant corrections you have to make. It makes a huge difference when you spend hours on the road. When you stop fighting the wheel, you won't be worn out when you finally park.

Stay in Control When a Front Tire Fails

A front tire failure is a nightmare scenario everyone dreads because it happens fast and the wheel yanks hard. If you've been through it, you know how helpless it feels when the rig wants to pull out of the lane. That's probably when this stabilizer really matters the most. It helps hold the wheel steady so you can slow down and bring your coach under control. It won't stop a tire from failing, but it can keep that situation from turning into something worse.

Bolt-On Install with Vehicle-Specific Hardware

safe t plus bolt on installation

This stabilizer bolts on with hand tools and includes the mounting hardware for your vehicle. Once it's mounted, it has to be centered and torqued properly to work. If you're comfortable with those adjustments, you can handle it with some extra time. If not, we can help you find a trusted installer to handle the job. Either way, you only have to do it once, and it stays put.

Roadmaster

Install was pretty straightforward, and can be done in a driveway or garage on the ground. It's not overly complicated as far as getting it in place and the adjustment to get it dialed in perfect is easier (in my opinion) than the roadmaster, and not hard to do. I would give it a 5/10 difficulty with that rating being slightly high just because you will be under the RV and it can get tight.

We have a 31 foot coach. The original equipment was wholly inadequate so we replaced the steering stabilizer with what I thought would alleviate the wild ride we were having when we were passed by a semi truck. It didn’t. Now we had the wild ride, plus it was constantly pulling to the left. I was constantly steering to the right to go straight.

The good folks at etrailer installed the Saf-T-Plus on our coach and it’s a whole new experience. No more fighting the wheel. I feel confident that we will go down the road without any more wild rides!

Also, the experience with etrailer was first rate before, during and after the installation.

  • What Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer will Work on My 2014 F-53 Chassis 18,000?
Hello Glen, I am glad that you wrote in. Since you have a 18,000 pound rig on a 2014 F-53 Chassis, you will want the Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Hardware Kit - Custom Fit # ST88MR. The red ones are designed for a smaller camper than yours. The # ST88MR will come with the right bracket and all the necessary hardware. If you have not installed one before, please make sure to get an alignment before installation. You want to make sure you are stabilizing your steering...

  • Correct Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer for a 2019 Jayco Precept 29V Motorhome
Hey Joe! The White Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer # ST88MR is the correct one for your 2019 Jayco Precept 29V, and the Blue one, part # ST28MR, is for a heavier motorhome so I'd be afraid that using it could cause more harm than good. The Safe-T-Plus brand is new to us so I don't have a TON of experience with it, but from what I've been able to look into and gather it's a really solid system. If you wanted to go a different route, then the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer # RM-RBK22-RSSA...

  • What Is The Difference Between Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer ST28MR And ST88MR?
Good question, Rick. The # ST28MR blue and # ST88MR white steering stabilizer are tuned for different F-53 weight ranges. The blue version is for 24,000 lb + GVWR, while the white one fits 16,000–22,000 lb chassis. What’s your coach’s GVWR or model name? I can confirm which stabilizer is perfect for it. They come with specific mounting brackets, so they are not all interchangeable.

  • How To Keep 2022 Winnebago Adventure 35F RV From Being All Over The Road In Wind
Ron, you're asking about the perfect upgrade for that chassis. Yes - the Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR is the right fit for your 22K-lb F-53, and it’s the same stabilizer a lot of Class A owners use to take the “white-knuckle” feel out of long highway drives. It’ll mount right up with the included custom bracket kit no drilling or welding, and once it’s centered, it’ll keep your steering straight through wind, dips, or when a semi blasts past you. The other nice thing with the Safe-T-Plus design...

  • How Hard Is Installing Steering Stabilizer On 2017 Georgetown 31BS? Is Alignment Needed First/After?
Jeff, totally doable at home if you’re comfortable working under the front axle. The # ST88MR kit’s brackets use your existing leaf-spring U-bolts - no drilling or welding. You’ll just need a torque wrench up to 250 ft-lbs and a long breaker bar for the U-bolt nuts. Plan about 1-1/2 hours for the install, then take it on a straight test drive to fine-tune the center point. Safe-T-Plus includes clear step-by-step instructions and alignment tips. If you’d rather not crawl under there, most...

  • Can Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer Replace Roadmaster Reflex On 2019 RV On F-53 Chassis?
Good question, Gary, and you’re smart to ask before doubling up. You’ll actually want to replace the Reflex, not run both. They do the same job, but the Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR is a clear upgrade. The Reflex uses universal fit and coil springs for centering, while the Safe-T-Plus adds a sealed hydraulic piston and a chassis-tuned spring designed specifically for the F-53. That means smoother, steadier tracking in crosswinds and less correction fatigue on long drives. Just remove the Reflex...

  • How To Prevent Motorhome And Toad From Moving In Wind - 2021 Forest River FR3
Melissa, absolutely. Towing adds a bit of push-pull on the front end of the coach, and the Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR counteracts that. It’ll keep the FR3 tracking straight through wind gusts or the bow wave when a big rig passes. Just make sure the tow bar setup and hitch height are dialed in, because even a few degrees of angle can transfer weight forward. After that, the stabilizer will handle the rest. • Which Steering Stabilizer Upgrade Is Best For 2023 Thor Hurricane 31C On F53 Chassis?
Eric, you’re right to double-check. The # ST88MR fits the 16K–22K GVWR F-53 chassis, so it’s perfect for your Hurricane 31C. The yellow version # ST59YR you were referring to is used on Freightliner chassis 04+, so stick with the white one I mentioned. You’ll get a more centered steering feel, especially when a semi passes or you hit a crowned road. After install, take a short test drive and tweak the center point - it’s easy and worth doing once. What kind of steering looseness were...

  • Will Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer Help In Slow Driving Too? 2018 Fleetwood Bounder 33C F53
Alan, thanks for the details! You’ll definitely notice the difference even off the interstate. The stabilizer # ST88MR doesn’t just help at high speed, it also helps hold your line on curvy, uneven mountain roads where ruts and dips try to pull the steering off-center. It won’t make the wheel “fight” you in tight turns either - it’s balanced to allow full motion while still returning to center naturally. Install time is roughly an hour and uses the included F-53-specific bracket kit. If...

  • 2020 Tiffin Allegro 22k F53 Chassis - Should Rear Sway Bar Or Steering Stabilizer Be Added First?
Cheryl, great question and one we get all the time. The Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR is the quickest way to take that wander out of your steering wheel - it keeps you centered in wind and passing traffic. Rear sway bars reduce lean and body roll, but they won’t fix the on-center “drift” you’re describing. If you want the biggest immediate difference in how your Allegro feels on the highway, start with the stabilizer. You can always add sway bars later to tighten up the feel even more. Have you...

  • Will Safe-T-Plus Steering Stabilizer ST88MR Make Steering Feel Too Stiff When Turning? F53 Chassis
Good question, Wendy. No, not noticeably. The stabilizer # ST88MR only provides resistance when you’re near center, so at parking-lot speeds or when turning full-lock it won’t fight you. It’s designed to help straight-line tracking, not restrict normal steering. Many Class A owners actually comment that their coach feels lighter to maneuver afterward because they aren’t constantly correcting on straight roads. Once installed, test it at slow and highway speeds to feel the balance - it’s...

  • 2020 Forest River Georgetown 29S On Ford F53 Chassis Steering Stabilizer To Keep Straight
Dan, you’re right to double-check that. Even though the catalog notes 18K–22K GVWR, the white Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR is actually tuned for the full 16,000- to 22,000-lb Ford F-53 chassis range. It uses the same calibrated spring and piston design that keeps steering centered on everything from shorter 29-foot coaches like yours up through the heavier 35-foot models. There’s no need to step down to a softer version - the # ST88MR is the correct stabilizer for your Georgetown 29S. Have you...

  • Fix Loose Steering After Alignment On 2016 Jayco Precept 31UL On Ford F-53 Chassis
Tim, the Safe-T-Plus # ST88MR can’t correct worn steering parts, but once you’ve confirmed your ball joints, drag link, and tie rods are tight, this stabilizer will take out that last bit of wander. They normally won't do an alignment if parts are damaged/worn, so I assume all of that is good to go! Think of it as the “finishing touch” after the alignment - it maintains straight-ahead pressure, so the wheel naturally stays centered instead of drifting. If your tech said everything checks...
