Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today on our 2019 Dodge Durango, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC custom fit engine air filter. The engine air filter is one of those important maintenance items that are often overlooked. Since you can't really see it as soon as you pop the hood, you don't really think about it. But in all honesty, it's something that you definitely want to keep an eye on.This is going to filter all of that air that your engine needs to breathe. So, it's got to keep all that dirt and debris from entering the inside of your engine. It's also going to help sustain that power that we all like and enjoy.
And even better, it's going to help maintain that fuel mileage. Now, the thing is with these engine air filters, a lot of people think they're really difficult to get installed or unsure of it. And nine times out of 10, they're really easy. So, this is something you can do at home and not have to pay a shop to do it for you.So, these PTC filters are really well-built and they're going to pretty much be identical to the OEM style filter. Here's the OEM style right here. If you hold them side by side, really difficult to tell a difference.
So, that just kind of gives you an idea on the quality of the PTC.So, if you look even after just a few miles, the OEM one does catch some dirt and debris, and will need to be changed fairly soon. This one is still in pretty good shape, but it just kind of gives you an example. To find out if you do need to change your filter, if you open up these pleats and you see dirt and debris, quite a bit of it, kind of in between all this pleats, you know it's time for a new one.But at the end of the day, a direct replacement filter that's going to ensure that your engine has the air it needs to breathe. Now, we talked about how easy it was to get installed, and you'll see how I do that here in just a moment. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and put it in together now.So, to get the air filter installed, you're going to pop your hood and move over here to your air box.
In the very edge of it here, towards the outside, we're going to have two little clips. Simply just push those off, and you're able to kind of lift up and pull out a little bit. That allows us to swing open our air box lid and pull our worn out filter and take our new one. Just drop down in there the same way.Once it's in place, it's pretty straight forward from here. Let's close the lid off and re-secure those clips.
And that's all there is to it. And that will finish up our look at and our installation of the PTC custom fit engine air filter on our 2019 Dodge Durango.
