Video Transcript for Complete Breakdown of the Demco Slide-Lok Trailer Coupler

Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Demco Slide-Lok adjustable trailer coupler. So, this one's for your two-inch ball. So you just definitely wanna make sure that's the ball that you plan on using and you don't wanna overload your trailer, 'cause this is gonna have a capacity of 7,000 pounds. One thing that's best with these style couplers, the slide locks, is just for off-road purposes. So, I have it on my horse trailer, so a lot of times when we go riding, we go kind of off the grid a little bit, with the correct ball size if we put this in and then snap it into place like that. As you can see, we have a lot of play right here which is good because with a standard coupler our little lip is gonna hit a lot sooner.

So right now, we could be on an extreme downhill slope with the trailer and going uphill with the vehicle and we're not gonna bust this off. 'Cause at a certain point it's gonna be so much pressure, it's where it will snap something, something will break and your trailer's gonna go bye-bye. But that's definitely something to think about, if you're gonna be off-roading this is gonna be an upgrade from a standard coupler. But if you really want the ultimate off-road coupler, you can get the pintle ring. We have those here at etrailer as well.

This ones just made of steel has a painted finish to it, so it shouldn't rust away over time. One thing you're gonna need to get with this is bolts. So, as you can see right here, I just went to the hardware store, grabbed some bolts. So some measurements for 'ya. One, we do want the diameter to be 5/8 of an inch 'cause we want it to be nice and snug.

And our bolts right here by out five inches long. So, I think that's probably the minimum that you're gonna want. I put a washer on each side, just to kind of keep it from rubbing up against our channel. And then nylon lock nuts will be my preferred nut for the whole entire setup. Just to give you an idea, the overall length of this coupler is about, 10 1/2 inches From the center of the mounting holes to the edge is about 9 1/2 inches.

And then the overall length we're gonna add to our trailer is about eight and a half. Another thing you're gonna need is the little channel here. Just make sure that the inside of the channel that you have on your trailer, or the one you plan on picking, is gonna be a measurement of three inches. So, that's pretty much all you really need. The way we have it set up right now, we just leave two holes at the bottom open and we will need to grab some safety chains. So, if you have some great, and if you don't we have some for 'ya. One thing I do like about this coupler, see, I lose things all the time and the fact that they just put a couple links here to keep this pin where it needs to be is awesome. And the fact that they include it, is also awesome. Some of these couplers don't come with it. This one does. The only thing it doesn't come with is the mounting hardware. When it comes to these, you just wanna make sure it's the right size for your trailer ball. And then, you also wanna make sure it's gonna be rated for enough weight for whatever you plan on putting on your trailer. Not a whole lot to it. Install is super simple. Two bolts, done deal. And that's pretty much it for our look at the Demco Slide-Lok adjustable adjustable trailer coupler..

  • Parts Needed to Convert to 3,500 lb Over-The-Hub Disc Brakes
Thanks for the photos, and based on them we do have what you need, which are over-the-hub disc brakes. The only thing you will need to verify is that you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern on your hub; it looks like you do but you'll want to be sure by measuring from the center of your hub's wheel stud hole to the farthest edge of the opposite stud. If that measures 4-1/2 inches you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. I have also added a link below to a printable bolt hole template. Assuming...
