Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Thule Roof Bike Racks 72 mm T-Screw Replacement

Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we have the replacement 72 millimeter T screw for the rear cradle of your Thule bike rack. If you are looking for the replacement part for your certain roof-mounted bike rack, you can double check the description below here on our site, which states the different bike racks this works with, and you can confirm if it fits yours. But today, I have the Thule ProRide XT. Now, this is the one screw that allows you to clamp around the different types of crossbars, not our Thule bars here today, but if you have like your smaller aluminum or square bars, you will need this screw and it is included with your bike rack mounting kit. We have our rear mounting plate of our bike rack, and this is where we're gonna put together our clamp.

We're going to start with our bracket that fits right on top, on top of that mounting plate. We're then going to get our wraparound clamp. So this goes through that mounting bracket and you can see how nicely it fits from that top. And this would then go around your crossbar. You're then going to get that T bolt or T screw and this fits up through that mounting plate.

You're going to get this lever. And in this lever, you're going to have a barrel nut. That barrel nut is what will thread to that T bolt. So you don't actually have to have that attached to the clamp just yet. You just need to have this threaded down just enough where it's not gonna fall off.

While that is just one little bolt, it does have an impact on the whole system. So if you lost your bolt or you need to replace it, maybe you damaged it in some way or another, that's gonna be how you replace it and how it works with the whole system. Again, this is gonna be for your rear mounting spots. If you need the replacement parts for the front, those are gonna be the larger 92 millimeter T bolt. Very similar process.
