Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Roof Rack Fairings Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the 44 inch long Rhino-Rack fairing, part number RRRF3. There's also multiple different sizes, starting with the 32-inch part number RRRF1, the 38-inch RRF2, and the 50-inch, RRRF4.Speaker 2: This fairing is going to help by deflecting the air around the vehicle, so it makes for a quieter ride when you're out on the road. This stylish design is going to help to enhance the look of the roof of your vehicle, as well as your roof rack. And when you get your fairing in your box and you pull it out, you're going to have this protective film that's going to be over the top, and you can pull this off if you so choose, or you can leave it on to protect against any kind of bugs or dings or dents on your fairing. And with the wind hitting this, you're going to see that it can bounce off the top of the vehicle, so there's going to be rubber bumpers here on the bottom to help protect the vehicle's finish. And all your tools and accessories for this that you're going to need, including your bolts, washers, clips, brackets, all that stuff will be included, including your Allen tool to fasten them and tighten them down. The Rhino-Rack fairing offers a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer. Now that we've gone over some features, let's show you how easy it is to install.

Just make sure that you have your back bolts undone, so the plates will slide out of the way like they have. Set it over the top of your cross-bar and then you can rotate them so they fit nice and flush. Now, this fairing will work with your round, square, elliptical, even arrow type crossbars, and some factory crossbars as well. You just need to make sure that your crossbar has a width of at least 35 1/2 inches. As you can see, these are going to be nice and contoured to the Rhino-Rack roof rack system, meeting up with all the grooves and keeping it nice and aerodynamic. Rotate the bottom around so that the hole lines up with the other hole.

Then, take your bolt, your Allen bolt with the washer, place it in the top, and start threading it in. Use your included Allen tool to tighten them down, and we'll repeat this on the other three. And as you can see when we tighten down the front ones, it's going to pull and adjust pressure to push down on the front by tightening up that back racket. You can see it coming back down it, and you just want to be careful not over-tighten these because the plastic can break. Keep in mind for all your different lengths, all the hardware and features will be the same, and that completes the look at our Rhino-Rack fairings.

Where do I start? I've been whitewater kayaking for 22 or so years now. I've always used used either Yakima or Thule products... Until I bought a 2015 Nissan Rogue with a naked roof. The curvature of the roof and large door jams mean that Yakima and Thule can't make racks for them. I went to a place that does custom installs and again because of the curvature of the roof, they couldn't give me a rack. This meant no kayaking which is really bad news. Enter the Rhino rack system. I purchased the feet, the fit kit, the cross bars and a Yakima "big stack" stacker. The first issue I had is the reccomended size for the Nissan Rogue is only 48 inches. Way too small too haul 4-5 (very light) whitewater kayaks. I called etrailer and they were SUPER helpful, told me I can buy the 65 in cross bars and they'll work fine. I held my breath and placed my order. I was nervous leaving my trusted name brands. The order arrived super fast (they told me it would arrive by Friday but it actually arrived on Thursday) and everything was packaged rock solid. I was impressed. I read the instructions and put the rack system on my car. It took about a hour (it was hot and I worked slowly) but the rack system is SUPER SOLID. I love it. Rhino might have a "forever" customer out of me. -The rack system is very stable. I can't move it with my hands by pushing or pulling. -The rubber stripping you put on the top and bottom of the bar is an awesome added feature AND it reduces wind noise. -Adding the fairing reduced wind noise even further. With four boats on the roof you couldn't hear any extra noise. The ONE thing I dislike is that you need to use the supplied Allen wrench to take the rack on and off the car. It's a small complaint, but other systems I've used in the past don't have them. I paid much less for this system than I would have if I purchased one of the aforementioned systems, but I'm really really satisfied with the product. We will see how well it holds up over long-term use, but it looks awesome! 411247

Loved it and it fit pretty well. the only thing i struggled with was part of the installation and the location that the sheet wanted the racks to be placed. After some adjustment everything worked out fine and i love the result. Would recommend. On a side note I thought the bars might look weird compared to the towers, due to size, however they actually look great. 506375

I installed the 44" RRRF3 Rhino Flairing on my 2006 Chevy Silverado with the 52" Aero Bars. Very easy to install. Without fairing my Aero Bars were relatively quiet. One thing I observed was an improperly adjusted fairing adds to wind noise, very important to test drive and adjust fairing angle to minimize noise. After a couple of adjustments and a good tightening (do not over tighten) the bars and fairing met my quiet expectation. very satisfied, THANKS. 356333

Ask the Experts about this Rhino Rack Accessories and Parts

Do you have a question about this Accessories and Part?

  • What Size Fairing Should Be Used Based On Roof Rack Cross Bar Length?
  • I recommend using the Rhino-Rack Fairing for Roof Racks - 44" Long # RRRF3 or the Yakima WindShield Fairing for Roof Racks - 46" Long # Y05018. When looking for a fairing, you want to cover as much of the bar as possible while able to attach within the feet/towers of your roof rack. The more air that you can direct over the bar, the less wind noise, so the widest you can get and not create more noise by going past your vehicle the better.

  • Roof Rack Fairing that Will Fit Factory Subaru Roof Rack Crossbars
  • Replacement clip # 8537361 is the same as what comes on the newer XT Thule windscreens and it does not fit the older model fairings so either way it would not work with the Subaru factory bars. You will need a more universal fairing. Rhino-Rack has several options depending on the length you need: # RRRF1 is 32 inches long # RRRF2 is 38 inches long # RRRF3 is 44 inches long # RRRF4 is 50 inches long

  • Fairing for a Rhino Rack Vortex Roof Rack on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf VII 5-Door Wagon
  • For installation, the Rhino Rack RS2500, part # RRRS605B , is not intended to line up with the factory roof rack holes during install. It will install exactly as you have it right now in your picture. I can't recommend opening the moon roof while having a roof rack installed, as there is a chance that the rack will contact the glass as it opens or the noise and wind will change direction because of the crossbar and affect the passengers or cargo in the vehicle. Generally, we don't...

  • What is the Difference Between Curt Roof Rack Crossbars and Thule Roof Rack with Evo Raised Feet?
  • I wouldn't say that you're missing anything; the Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails # C18118 are a solid, low cost roof rack option that looks great. When you look at them compared to something like the Thule Roof Rack with Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH711220 and # TH710401 the differences are extremely subtle and may not matter to a lot of consumers. Curt is primarily a company known for making trailer hitches and towing products, so roof racks aren't exactly their specialty. When it comes...

Some of the whistling is no doubt coming from that fit with a wind tunnel at that location. There will always be some additional wind noise when you add a roof rack, but if you are experiencing an exceptional amount of noise from what you anticipated, you may want to add a fairing to your system. This particular fairing measures 44-inches and its mounting hardware will fit a crossbar up to 1-1/4-inches tall x 3-1/2-inches wide. Because of the aerodynamic bar design a front fairing is not needed and would actually create more noise. But you could add a fairing, # RRRF3, if you wanted to. This is a universal fairing from Rhino-Rack since Rola does not have any fairings.
