Today we'll be taking a look at the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Carriers. Part number RRRBCA033. Upgrade your Rhino-Rack Hybrid Bike Rack to carry a bicycle with fat tires. It is easy to swap out the existing front wheel stop with this wider wheel stop, that will fit tires up to 5 inches wide. The kit also comes with an extra-long ratchet strap to accommodate a larger tire . No additional tools or hardware are required. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed.
Now this is a very easy installation, we've already got our Rhino-Rack Hybrid in place on our vehicle and you can do this on or off the vehicle, whatever you choose. First thing we'll do, is we'll replace our wheel stop. So what we want to do is make sure our cap is unlocked and then we can go ahead and take it off. The way you remove the wheel stop is, you bring it up about a quarter of the way, just enough so that you can squeeze it and take it on out. Then we'll take our fat tire wheel stop, we want to have it faced about the same direction with this pointing back and we're going to put it in, line it up, to the holes on the inside until it moves freely, like so. Then we'll lay it down, and then we'll replace our cap. Now for our wheel straps, we're not removing those, we're just adding extensions.
So we'll feed it on out, grab one of our extensions, ratchet it on. Then we've got it. We'll repeat the same process for the front. With everything in place, loading up our fat tire bike, is just as easy as loading up a regular bike. Great, now with our bike in place, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performs. This is our test course, let's start with the slalom. This shows side to side action, such as turning corners for evasive maneuvering.
Then onto our alternating speed bumps, this shows twisting action such as hitting curbs, pot holes, road debris or an uneven pavement. Last of all, the solid speed bumps, this shows up and down action such as driving through a parking lot or parking garage or driving in and out of a driveway. That completes out look at the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Carriers. Part number RRRBCA033.
Love it! It's big enough to fit a bike carrier and a cargo bag on top of my MINI. Easy to assemble and install, solid construction. Great value for your money. If I have a gripe it's that the wind fairing on the front is VERY thin/fragile. I caught it with my bike tire when loading one day and the corner snapped right off like nothing. It's only about $XXX for the replacement.
Have not used yet.
