This bolt pattern gauge helps you determine wheel bolt hole patterns for wheels and hubs with 5 bolt holes. Measures 5 on 5-1/2, 5 on 5, 5 on 4-3/4, and 5 on 4-1/2 patterns. Made of durable plastic for long life.

Features:

  • Bolt pattern template helps you determine wheel and hub bolt hole patterns
  • Provides a quick and easy way to find bolt hole patterns
    • No need to use a tape measure
  • Measures common sizes of 5-bolt wheels and hubs
    • 5 on 5-1/2
    • 5 on 5
    • 5 on 4-3/4
    • 5 on 4-1/2
  • Made of solid plastic for permanent use

Note: Bolt hole patterns are determined by 2 numbers - the number of bolt holes followed by the diameter, in inches, of the circle they form. The diameter is measured at the center of the bolt holes. For example, 5 on 5-1/2 means that the wheel has 5 bolt holes that form a circle with a diameter of 5-1/2".

To determine a wheel's bolt hole pattern, hold template over wheel's bolt holes and observe where they line up, or to measure a hub, slide template over lug bolts. Diameters are clearly marked on template.

Video Transcript for FAQ Measuring Bolt Pattern

Hey guys it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna go over how to measure the wheel bolt pattern on your trailer wheels. The wheel bolt pattern is going to be the number of studs or the number of lug nuts on your trailer wheel and the distance in between them. We're gonna show you a couple different methods of how to measure it, one being with a tape measure, one being with a actual tool to measure five lug bolt patterns and then another one is just going to be a principle option for you to use at home. The two things that you have to figure out are going to be, again the number of studs and the number of holes on the wheel itself. That's going to be very obvious, but as you can see here, we have a four, two different fives and an eight.

There's also a six that is out there that you may have a trailer at home that has a six. The nice thing about the six is the six is the only thing. So you don't have to do any measuring. You just buy a spare wheel with the six bolt pattern, and how you measure the distance between them is going to depend on whether or not it has an even amount of holes or an odd amount of holes. With the odd, there's only going to be a five lug pattern.

There's not gonna be a three or a seven. It's just gonna be five. The difference in measuring them is going to be your even wheel, so our four and our eight, you're going to need to measure from the center of the lug, directly opposite of that lug straight across to the other center. So it'll be center on center. The one we have here, is a four on four so we measure from the center of one straight across to the center on the other and we can see that it's four.

So that's four lug nuts on four inches apart from each other. When we come to our odds, it's going to be the center of one to the outside edge, the furthest outside edge of the hole itself. So for us, at the outside edge there, and to the center of this hole is gonna be four and a half and I do know for a fact that this is a five on four and a half. Now when measuring for a five lug wheel it can be very difficult because there's only about a quarter of an inch in between each measurement so you've gotta be right on it to be able to order the right wheel. They do make a bolt pattern template specifically designed four, five lug wheels, and you can see if I covered the rest of the holes these four holes up here at the top are gonna be of four different sizes, five and a half, five, four and three quarters and four and a half.

Now is five on those four numbers. The nice part about this tool, is that you can just line it up and usually you just ignore all the other sets of holes. You just look at one range of four there and you just line each one up. So we know it's not a five on five and a half because the other holes are not lining up. So then we go to five on five. They're still not lining up. Five on three quarters. It's not a very common size and five on four and a half. So you can see there on five on four and a half we have a clear view through all five of the holes. If you're ordering wheels and tires for your trailers and you have multiple trailers, this might be a little bit easier. The other nice thing about this is this actually will slide over a set of studs when your trailer tire is actually on the wheel itself, but if you're only doing it once, on our website we have this principle template that you can print out and you can either cut it out or just like line it up but you do wanna cut out that center hole but you can line it up with the holes. and we've heard of people too using a flashlight on the backside to shine through the piece of paper but the one thing with this, is you're going to need to print it out to where the outside outside measurement is going to be six and seven eighths of an inch. Well guys, hopefully this video was able to help you to measure your wheel bolt pattern so that you know that you're getting the correct size each and every time. If you have any questions or comments, leave them in the comments below and we we'll see you next time..

Great little item. Bought this for a friend that had his in his toolbox and it got broken. I would give it 5 stars if it were more durable and made of thick aluminum instead of plastic.

Great ! It gives quick simple answers to a very important question.

This is a great tool if you need to determine your lug spacing. Takes the guess work out of 5 lug wheels. I only wish I would have ordered one of these before I ordered the first wheel and tire, as I measured wrong and therefore ordered the wrong wheel. Great simple tool. If you are going to order a 5 lug wheel, I highly recommend you get one of these first.

by:

Gave it to a tire dealer for christmas. He uses it for the od ball trailer axels that come in takes the guess work out. Some axles are hard to measure with a tape measurer with the hub sticking out. Great product . Jim

by:

Excellent product was quite impressed
Easy
to use and now I will able to order trailer rims and wheels
I have trailers with all different size bolt patterns
Thank you

by:

Your Bolt Circle Template is great! Just what I needed to save time and determine the bolt circle sizes quickly and accurately. I am happy with this purchase. The product is exactly as it was described. Will shop with you again as I am in the market for some removable towing mirrors.

by:

Great little device.

Although you
can get the same results with a ruler or tape measure; this device is quicker. Removes the possibility of error, especially when trying to measure the bolt pattern with the wheel attached. The hole in the center of the template allows you to record an accurate measurement with the wheel attached.

Made in America, low price; why not?

by:

Bolt pattern template has come in handy a few times. Eliminates the guesswork. Have not needed to use the spare tire but it provides peace of mind knowing it is available.

by:

I usually buy from Rigid Hitch, but they did not know what I was asking for. So I saw this website and when I put in the search box, it came right up.
Thank you so much for helping me,
Linda

The delivery was extremely quick, like 2 days from the Continental U.S to me way out here in the state of Hawaii ! Mahalo(Thank You),and believe that I will be ordering more things and telling my friends & family(Ohana),about you !

by:

Nice product, should have bought one years ago. Just as an aside, you have one of the worst search engines I have ever used. Whether it's dust caps for wheel hubs, trailer wiring, just about anything, it's quicker to search your site on google.

by:

The BC-temp plate helps us check bolt pattern on rims for matching to cars and trailers . Etrailer is a great place to find towing and rv products!

The Redline Bolt Pattern Template is a great and necessary tool for finding your bolt pattern. I tried printing off some bolt pattern templates off the internet but I was never satisfied that I was truly measuring the correct bolt spacing. This template is well built, sturdy, easy to read, and there is no guessing which holes the bolts line up on. The bolts for my trailer only fit on the 5 on 5 holes, so I was confident in what size I needed to purchase. etrailer had the correct tool for the job and I am sure I will be returning there for my future trailer needs!!

by:

Just what I've been looking for a big asset toy tool box no longer trying to guess what bolt pattern I. Have ,just grab tool.and go .a awsome tool. Thx eddie

  • How to Determine 205/75-15 Wheel Bolt Pattern on a 2006 Forest River Cherokee Lite 28C
Your 15" wheel most likely uses the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern but to verify this you can measure from the center of one bolt hole to the far end of a bolt hole opposite of that first bolt hole. If that measures 4-1/2" then you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and that's what you need to look at when getting new hubs or wheels. I'm also linking our helpful articles on how to find your bolt pattern if you'd like some additional resources to use - one of them has a page you can print...
