How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at the replacement male 50-amp plug. So, if you have a 50-amp cable and it's burned out, you crushed it, you drove over it, or damaged it in some other way, this is an easy way to replace it and save a couple bucks on a whole cord. So, let's take a closer look at it and see what's special about it. The casing is made out of PVC plastic. That's gonna hold up against the elements.
Very similar to automotive plastic. You have this nice grip right here for plugging in and pulling out. And you're gonna have a pretty nice cable retention clamp built into the bottom that's gonna keep it from pulling out the bottom. Install on something like this is pretty straightforward. It's color-coded on the inside.
Only thing you're gonna need is a box cutter, wire stripper, and a Phillips head screwdriver, and I'll show you how to get this thing done. So, we're gonna start our installation by taking our wire, and this is 50-amp four wire. And we're just gonna carefully peel back the outer shielding. Just wanna make sure you're being safe with your box cutter, cutting away from yourself. And I'll just try to go all the way around.
All right, now we can get that outer shielding in. I just wanna make sure you check your wires to see if you got any nicks. If you do, you definitely wanna address that. And now, I'm just gonna separate my four leads on the inside. Now, we're gonna remove our five screws using our Phillips head screwdriver.
They are kind of long, but you know It'll be fine. Just be patient. Now that we have our rear removed, we can go right ahead and start making our connections to our wires. So, you can see right here, you're gonna have a little plate on the inside and that's where you're gonna sandwich your wire. And you're just gonna create a gap using your screwdriver. And then, you can press down on your wire. And you can see on the inside that each one of your colors are labeled. And we're gonna start with our black wire. I'm just gonna work this guy underneath and then fasten it down. Nice and secure. So, we're gonna do that three more times and get everything in place. I noticed I didn't put my anti-snag collar on, so I'm gonna go around that by removing the bracket for it. We're just gonna slide it around our leads and then drop it back in. (screwdriver clanging) (screw clinking) (plug clanging) And now, we're gonna work this guy through. We're just gonna reinsert all of our plugins and then we're gonna resecure our anti-snag to make sure our wire doesn't get pulled out when we're going out and about. And now, we're gonna resecure our screws to complete our installation. Now, one other thing that I would do if this wasn't just a demonstration, because I'm gonna cut this wire a bunch more times today. I would actually wrap an electrical tape around the end of these exposed wires just to give it an extra measure of protection. But in general, this is super easy installation and a quick way to save a couple bucks. So again, this is it with etrailer.com taking a look at the replacement male 50-amp plug from Mighty Cord. Have a great day.
I like this replacement plug better than the original OEM plug. It was a challenge to cut the original plug off and then strip the wires and get them aligned properly for the new plug. But, determination and perseverance pays off.
Much more heavy duty than the original plug end. And it was quick to assemble. Thank you
The product looks good it will work I am sure as well as the original, however I am disappointed it is made in China.
It was a straightforward replacement. Good directions.
Product was as advertised but took three weeks to get my order. I am guessing they were out of stock but failed to tell me. Anyway I guess it was communication that had me give them 4 stars.
The replacement RV plug works excellent. My cord doesn't get hot anymore.
The plug seems robust and had wire connections that are easier to use than other brands. Instructions were clear and were close to the actual wire lengths you had to prepare to make the connections. Took me about an hour to install the new plug. Flat tangs do not appear to be copper like my original plug was.

The plug is working fine after one year and better than the original. It is holding the cord very tight with no slippage.
Replaced factory plug after it pulled out of the cable. Great unit, no problems after a year.
Better than what was on the coard
The 50 amp cord in my RV is made up of four 6 gauge wires. The 50 amp plug I received is designed for three 6 gauge wires and one eight gauge wire. My fourth 6 gauge wire will not fit in the 8 gauge slot, making this unusable on my 50 amp cord
This Plug replacement is very (ROBUST)!! Comparatively too the one you find at the big box stores and going to a real electrical supply house.
Had an incident with my cord and had to replace the male plug and ordered this. Quality product, very satisfied
Thank you for your excellent service to me. I have bought rv items for my trailer from you before and your service is nothing but 5 stars.
Good instructions and it seems like it is of good quality.
Followed the directions to a T. Well made and works like it should.
Only thing I would prefer is that it was U.S. made…it is not.
Meh. I bought this because in the Q&A an expert said this was made in the USA. It is not. It is the same generic Chinese plugs you get from a very large online retailer.
Very sturdy and easy to install. It's a bit bulky, but still fits in our power cord reel box. The finger piece is solid and easy to use. 1000 times better than the cheap one that came with our Alpine.
Installed the 50 amp male plug when I received it. The housing is actually a little small for the size wire that is required for 50 amp. That being said it is very difficult to get the plug to close after finally getting the wire in place. I feel it this product is a little pricey for the quality of the plug.
I haven’t installed this yet, but it seems to be of excellent quality like everything I’ve purchased from etrailer. The only thing that stands out more if the outstanding customer service you receive when purchasing an item. Ive never had a business provide the level of service that etrailer provides.
It is heavy duty, and I really like the finger holes that make it easy to unplug. I plan to use it on my portable generator.

It is heavy duty and does not let the cord slip out.
I've recently ordered several different items from Etrailer. I will be using them in the future. Every item I've purchased has been great quality, exactly as described and delivered to my home within just a couple of days. So far they have had the best prices that I have been able to find. One order that I made I had to make some adjustments too because I hadn't realized that one of the items wasn't currently in stock so it pushed my delivery date back, I contacted customer service and the gentleman I spoke with had my order modified to my satisfaction within just a few minutes and all was good. Great company to order from and great customer service. Thank you Etrailer!
This replacement RV plug was a great replacement for the plug that I had. It works perfectly and I really like the strain clamp. Instructions were thorough and installation was easy.
Fast Service/Shipping Awesome Product 5 Stars Works as intended Perfect Thank you
The Mighty cord 50 amp male plug was received quickly and is of good quality. Just what I was looking for
Excellent product at a great price and fast shipping highly recommended
