Video Transcript for Review of Dexter Replacement Shoe And Lining 12-1/4 x 5 Inch Drivers Side - BP04-360

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look at this Dexter replacement shoe and lining. Now, this is going to replace the shoe and lining for your Dexter 12 1/4-inch by 5-inch driver's side electric trailer brake assembly with stamped backing plate for your 12,000-pound axle. And on your screen for your reference I am including the part number of that assembly that this is going to fit and work with. This is the direct replacement from Dexter, so you can proceed with confidence knowing this is going to be the exact replacement that you are going to need.

The 12 1/4-inch measurement is from the end of one shoe to the end of the other shoe when this is installed. And that five-inch measurement is the width of the lining on the shoe. So as you can see, we're sitting right at five inches. And the front and rear pads use automotive-grade friction materials, which are molded to the brake shoes, and so the pads are fully bonded, so they're not going to be riveted to the shoes, which are gonna give you a lot longer life and more braking torque. And the shoes are actually stamped on the top, L for the left side.

That might be kind of hard for you to see. R for the right side, indicating the position that these go on your brake assembly. Another way to tell the position that these are installed is if you look at the size of the pad on each shoe. If you notice here on this side, this pad is shorter. The shorter pad is the primary shoe, so that will always face the front of the trailer.

So that will also let you know the position of your brake assembly. This does include everything that you see here. This is going to obviously include our replacement shoe and lining, but also the shoe hold-down kit along with instructions to guide you through that installation process. Now again, this is for the driver's side. If you are also looking for the passenger side, the good news is we do carry that as well.
