For a straight carrier that does not fold the most popular option for 2008 Honda Pilot owners is Pro Series carrier # 63153. This is a 24x60 inch carrier, fits a 2 inch trailer hitch, and has a capacity of 500 pounds but would be limited to the tongue weight capacity of the hitch. It measures 12-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier.
And the most popular folding carrier for 2008 Honda Pilot owners is Curt cargo carrier # C18100. This is an aluminum carrier, also rated for 500 pounds, and fits a 2 inch trailer hitch. When folded up it measures 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier.
I have linked videos to each carrier and a couple of links on choosing cargo carriers to the right for you.
