What Microwave is the Best Replacement for My Sharp Microwave Model Number R-1850A?

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 12/11/2025

Question:

I have Sharp microwave / convection oven in my 2002 Itasca Horizon mtrhm. The Sharp is model R-1850A. It is in the kitchen slideout and I would like to replace it with another microwave, convection / air fryer model of the same physical size, but has the exhaust exit the back, so I can have it exit the slideout through the rear. Do have or can you recommend a model for this application? I thank you in advance.

Hello Bobby,

The Furrion Over-the-Range Convection Microwave # FMCM15SS is the best replacement we offer for your Sharp R-1850A, even though it doesn’t include an air-fryer mode. It matches your current unit in the ways that matter most: size, venting, and overall function.

The Furrion is almost the exact same width, height, and depth as your Sharp, so it fits beautifully in that slideout space without needing cabinet changes. Just as important, it can be set up to vent out the back, which makes it a great option for your slide where you want the exhaust to go directly outside instead of recirculating into the RV.

Even without the air-fryer label, the convection system still lets you bake, brown, and crisp food much like an air fryer would. You can still make fries, wings, and pizzas using the convection settings, and the results will be very similar.

Because it is built specifically for RV use, the Furrion handles vibration and road movement better than a residential microwave. It also installs much like your old Sharp, using a top mount and rear bracket, so the swap is typically straightforward.

What was your favorite trip of 2025? Where did you go, what did you see? What kind of adventures do you have planned for 2026? I am always looking for new places to explore, and there is no one better to ask than our neighbors (customers)!
