Are Furrion Chill The Cube AC Units Worth the Hype
Published 01/28/2025 >
Question:
RV is a 2019 Forest River Berkshire XLT 45A. It has 3 ducted Dometic Penguin 2s. Looking to replace all 3 with Furrion Chill Cube 18k units. As I understand it they will not work with any existing brands. So all of the components will have to be redone. Thermostats, wiring etc. Which units would you recommend and what are all the components needed to make this work? Would these work with the Micro Air thermostats? Thanks for your help

Hey Josh, yeah the Furrion Chill Cubes are really nice and all of the feedback we have gotten on them is that they are worth the hype. They are very quiet, blow really cold, and also the ability for the remote to act as a thermostat is really nice as well.
Like you said they do require all new components all around as no portion of it can work with other units. So going with the part # FR49TD would be your best option as it comes with all of the things needed. It does require you installing three thermostat controls since only option currently is single zone controllers for the Cube. So each unit would have it's own thermostat and remote for it. It would not work with the thermostat you mentioned.
