Recommended Gooseneck Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Rails

Question:

I have a curt E16 5th wheel hitch in my truck and need a gooseneck plate to use other trailers. Can you tell me which gooseneck plates match that bed mount?

Hey Larry, it sounds like you already have 5th wheel rails, so to be able to tow a Gooseneck trailer you can use the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails # 16085.

This adapter will drop into standard 5th wheel rails, includes a 2 5/16ball, and will let you tow up to a 25k trailer. If there is anything else you need help with, feel free to leave a comment and I'd be happy to help!

What about a Curt 16055?

@LarryP Hey great question! Yeah the Curt # 16055 will also work. Please note that this one has a 3" offset so that would change where the ball sits.

@BryceD How does that offset affect pulling? Thanks Larry

@LarryP Hey Larry, an offset goose ball affects towing by repositioning the trailer hitch ball slightly further back on the truck bed, allowing for more clearance between the trailer's front overhang and the truck's tailgate, while still maintaining the same weight distribution on the truck as a standard gooseneck hitch. It can potentially slightly alter the truck's weight distribution depending on how far back the offset is positioned, potentially affecting steering and braking if it's significant enough.
