Weight Rating of Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts Standard RV Bumper Support Brackets

Question:

I own a 2019 Cougar 5th Wheel. It has the thin bumper that holds a sewer line. By adding the safety struts, approximately how much weght can I put on a 2 hitch adapter/rv rated bike rack just range? My bike is approximately 55 lbs. I want to be safe and not overload the bumper. If not, what would you recommend. Thanks

Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out!

The Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts Standard RV Bumper Support Brackets # MO22FR can support up to 400 lbs of cargo and would allow you to use the full 350 lb tongue weight rating of a hitch receiver like the etrailer RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38HR, provided your bumper can handle that much weight. You'll need to verify how much weight your bumper can handle from the manufacturer.

If you don't already have a bike rack then I recommend going with the Swagman Escapee RV Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S39SR as it can carry bikes up to 60 lbs and is rated for use on a 5th wheel bumper.

Originally our 2016 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel had a fold up/down cargo carrier that was attached by heavy hinge on each side of the frame — I think it was rated for around 250 lbs. Does etrailer offer any type of bike rack option to make use of the carrier platform? Thanks

@Chris Unfortunately, we don't have any bike rack options designed to work with an OEM bumper carrier.
