Hi I want to know what class towing hitch I need for my dodge ram 1500 4x4 2017 3.6.LT Iam getting very different answers I have never bought a hitch in my life So I am new to this.

I took a look online and your 2017 Ram 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 7,730 lbs since you have the 3.6LT engine. With this in mind you would need at most a class IV hitch like item # 14374 which has a 2" receiver. Keep in mind you are limited to your truck's towing capacity with this hitch.

If you're not going to be towing over 6,000 lbs then I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch item # e98852. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver that bolts directly to your frame. If you use a weight distribution system the capacity will increase to 10,000 lbs but you can't tow anything over 7,730 lbs.

Please note that both of these hitches only fit the 2017 Ram 1500's without a factory hitch.
