Recommended Fifth Wheel Setup For A 2019 Ram 2500 Without Puck System

Question:

What is recommend for my 2019 Ram 2500 without the PUCKinch system, looking for all the required parts to install the 5th wheel hitch. Thank you so much! I was told by my father in law Curt A16 was the best, but unsure

Hey Evan, I can definitely help set you up. Your 2019 Ram 2500 is a short bed, right? If so, I highly recommend the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270. You will also need the Installation Rail Kit # BWRVK2602.

The slider is recommended for short bed trucks to help with clearance on tight turns. Long bed trucks will use the non slider version # BWRVK3255 along with the same # BWRVK2602 rail kit.

I really like the B&W hitches for a few reasons. The dual-jaw design gives a secure connection and helps prevent chucking. The sliding mechanism is smooth and easy to operate - the same goes for the jaw. Overall it is a very solid US made hitch.

The Curt A16 is a decent hitch that has been around for a long time and they do work well. In my opinion the Curt hitch cannot quite stand up to the time-tested durability and dependability of the B&W Patriot hitch. Also, when you look at the minimal price difference between the two with install kits included, the B&W is definitely the way to go.

You may want to consider the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness # C56070 which will allow you to relocate the 7-way trailer plug to the bed of your truck.
