Recommended Bike Rack for Two Lectric XP3 Folding E-bikes

Question:

I am looking at the Yakimia on ramp 2 ebike rack. I have 2 lectric XP3 walk thru bikes. Will this work ? If so, where does it connect to the frame of the bike? Is this a good choice? any other suggestions. I have a 2016 Lexus NX 300h. Also these bikes are each 64 lbs. and we are both in our 70s. We are thinking the ramp would be a good thing for 2 women to get these on our SUV. COmments and suggestions please

The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y36FR will work for your two Lectric XP3 e-bikes. The OnRamp has a 66 lbs per bike capacity and works with fat tires up to 3-1/4" wide. I checked with Lectric and it looks like your bikes weigh 64 lbs with the battery and come with 3" wide tires. It is recommended to remove the batteries when transporting e-bikes on a bike rack.

The Lectric XP3 e-bikes have an interesting foldable frame. You are going to have to attach the OnRamp's padded clamps to the seat posts or head tubes to get the clamps to secure because of the strap.

Another alternative is the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack item # HLY66ZR. This bike rack also includes a ramp which I do highly recommend for convenience. The capacity and tire width will both work but the reason I suggested this one is because of how the clamps function. This bike rack will clamp directly to your frame and can be tightened down with a knob to secure them. They don't require a stem or post that a strap needs to wrap all the way around. Think of a hand being able to grip something. That's how the Destination's clamps function.

I recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack item # HLY66ZR over the Yakima OnRamp item # Y36FR because it will provide you with a sturdier more reliable connection on your folding frame bike.

I am not sure what size hitch your 2016 Lexus NX 300h has because there are options for both 2" and 1-1/4" receivers. Both of these bike racks fit class III 2" hitches. The OnRamp is the only one of the two that has a counterpart that will fit a 1-1/4" and have the capacity you will need. It is item # Y96FR.

I have linked review videos below for both bike racks so you can see their features demonstrated.
