Help Determining Correct Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution For 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2306BHS
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado w/ factory tow package and a 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX 2306BHS. GVW of 6,000 for the trailer. When I purchased the trailer, the dealer I bought it from sold me a Curt Tru track Weight Distribution hitch with sway control. I now believe I may have purchased the wrong type of WDH as I am reading that the hitch is designed for trailers 10-15k pounds. Mine weighs nothing close to that as I have already mentioned. I am also reading it supports a tongue weight between 1,000-1,500 pounds. Does this mean my trailer is not heavy enough for this hitch to be effective? Is there a way for me to find out whether I have the right hitch or not? And if not, I suppose I need a new hitch to ensure I am connected correctly for safe towing. So what is the recommendation and what should I try to sell this brand new hitch for?

Expert Reply:
You are correct that the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501 is the incorrect hitch for your 2022 Chevrolet Colorado pulling your 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX 2306BHS. Your Winnebago has a dry tongue weight of 495lbs and with the bars for the hitch rated for 1,000-1,500lbs they will not flex properly and provide adequate sway control or weight distribution. I recommend contacting the dealer to see if they will take the hitch back since it should have never been installed on your trailer or if they will exchange it for the correct Curt TruTrack # C17499 which is rated for trailers with a tongue weight of 500-800lbs and a total trailer weight up to 8,000lbs.
