Recommended 16 Inch 14 Ply Tires To Upgrade From A 15" Tire/Wheel
Question:
I have a 24 enclosed trailer. t has 15 wheels with ST225/75R15 tires. Trailer weighs 10,760bls, 9580bls on axles and 1180 tongue weight. Drive 65 to 70 mph. Thinking that my wheel tires are maybe just a little under sized. I have a 16 wheel from your site that I AM2258HWTB. What 16 tire would you recommend that would be a 14ply that would be close to exiting size. I can stand to be a little larger diameter. Thank you

I can certainly point you in the right direction. The big factor here is how much clearance you have in your wheel well. A typical 225/75R15 is 8.9" wide and 28.4" across when fully inflated. If we go up to a 16" tire like a ST235/80R16, it will be 9.3" wide and 30.8" across. So as long as you have room in your wheel well/fender area to add .4" of width and 2.4" of diameter, you can absolutely go to a bigger tire.
That said, for a 14 ply 16" tire to go with your # AM2258HWTB wheels, I recommend the Provider # PRG80235. This is a ST235/80R16 tire. The speed rating for these is 81 mph so they will hold up nicely if you are only going about 70 mph. Also the max load for this tire is 4,080 lbs, so your trailer will be well under max capacity for a tire like this.
