When you’re hauling long distances, this tire-and-wheel assembly is built to handle it. The Provider ST235/85R16 radial tire carries a 14-ply rating and a 4,400-lb maximum load at 110 psi. It’s rated for 81 mph (speed rating M) and meets DOT and FMVSS standards. Double steel belts, double polyester cords, and nylon overlays give it lasting strength for heat resistance and highway stability.
No extra work needed before hitting the road. Each assembly is laser-matched and balanced so vibration is kept to a minimum right out of the box. The combination of even weight distribution and properly aligned components helps extend tread life and provides a smooth, steady ride from the first mile. The valve stem is already included, so it’s ready to go on the wheel.
Rust protection is built in from the start. The steel wheel features an acrylic enamel finish applied over an e-coat primer layer after a zinc phosphate pre-treatment. This system resists chipping and damage better than standard powder coatings and held up to more than 1,000 hours of salt spray testing. 1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today, we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range G, and it's mounted on this 16 inch Vesper black modular steel trailer wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and campers. And what's unique on this assembly is this tire is match-mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability, and match-mounting of tires and wheels is a process in which the tire installation position when it's put on the wheel is specifically selected to minimize final force of the imbalance. The method to match-mounting is to align the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot, and that eliminates most of the radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear, and when then they do the final balancing by applying weights to the specific spots on the front and the back of the wheel, it'll eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration. And just to show you what we're talking about, if you look on the front, you can see the weights right here, and if we spin it around to the back, you can see the weight right over here, so that makes this tire and wheel assembly all balanced.
The wheel is a steel wheel, has a modular design. When we say modular design, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel, it is sturdy and corrosion resistant. Now, this wheel has a nice black acrylic enamel finish on it, helps resist chipping and other damage better than your powder coat finishes. The finish on this is applied after a zinc phosphate pre-treatment, and then it covers an E-coat primer layer. Gives you excellent corrosion resistance with a salt spray rating more than 1,000 hours.
Few specs on the wheel, the diameter on this wheel is 16 inches, the width on just the wheel, six inches wide. Now, this wheel does have an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern, and if you wanna measure that bolt pattern on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, in this case, it's eight lugs, it's pretty easy, because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So all you have to do is pick any hole, let's say this one, measure from the center of the hole to the center of the hole right across from it. This one, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches, so it's an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This will use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18.
Weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 4,460 pounds. If you noticed, this wheel does not include a center cap, we do sell those separately if you do want one. You do wanna make sure to get one that'll have the same pilot hole diameter as this opening right here, which is 4.88 inches. And your center cap, when it's installed, will go right through this hole. The tire on this is a radial tire, which means it is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice long life, it is great for highway use, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation.
This tire is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has a sturdy sidewall, so it can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 235/85R16, R means it's a radial tire. Section width on the tire, 9.3 inches, overall diameter when it's inflated is 31.7. This tire is a Load Range G, which means it's a 14-ply tire, has a maximum load capacity of 4,400 pounds at 110 psi. And this tire does come with a speed rating, and the speed rating is also stamped on the sidewall, but it is stamped with a letter designation. And to show you where that's at is right after the size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M will mean 81 mile per hour speed rating. Now, this does offer a two-year platinum plus warranty on it, which includes emergency tire change service and other benefits, and this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it will exceed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Bought it for a Spare tire. Tire was made Oct.2024 and I got the wheel/tire May 2026. No worries….. it’s a spare tire.
Tires came as promised. I have not installed them as of yet, but i really like the look. They should look great on my restored 1994 Starcraft popup. Can't wait to get it on the road again. Hopefully the end of July.

Light, sturdy feeling, perfect pressure straight out of the box. Honestly this was my first time ordering any kind of tire online so i was a bit paranoid. But the vehicle selector narrowed down the search to this beauty. Fits like a glove on my old 2005 jayco jay series. while its too early for me to rate its longevity, i find the product feel reassuring.
On the first trip with these tires and wheels, All wheel weights broke off. Will have to have these balanced again. Tires and wheels are as expected
When the tires arrived, the hubs had a few stretches on them which I assume it from mounting the tires. I installed them and drove around the block. Even though it was a short drive, they seemed to be a much better upgrade than the bias ply tires I had on the trailer.
I also should add that I bought these because of the highway rating as I will be hauling my motorcycle to NY this summer.
UPS driver put the tire box at my back gate and was very kind to do so. I’ve ordered 5 new tire/rims for an Alaska trip and and a spare for my cargo trailer in the past. This tire will be a spare on my new trailer.
The 2 Provider Tires on Vespar rims are in excellent condition, mounted good and look in excellent condition.

Excellent looking wheels and tires! The wheels are flawless - no scratches or chips.
I put these on a small utility trailer that I expanded for hauling my kayak and jon boat. The gross weight is very light so I reduced my tire pressure to about 75psi and took the trailer for its maiden test drive this past weekend. Handles great in town. It did 75-80mph on the highway no problem.
