Should I Get Loadlifter 5000 Or 7500 For Towing A 15K Fifth Wheel

Updated 11/04/2025 | Published 08/08/2023

Question:

I have 2012 F350 SRW. I just recently bought a 5th wheel 15k lbs and I’ve been between getting the Air Lift 5000 Ultimate Plus or the 7500xl. I’m not sure which would be more suitable. The payload is less than 4k so my initial thought was that 5000 was fine to help out, but also don’t want to over burden the bags. Are they a good option or would the 7500xl be better? Pin weight on the camper is about 2.1k if that helps too. Thank you!

Since the pin weight of your camper is 2.1k, I recommend going with the LoadLifter 5000 opposed to the 7500. While technically there is not reason you couldn't use the 7500 kit, it really is not necessary for a camper like yours. Generally the 7500 kits are used on vehicles that have a constant heavy load in the bed like a salt spreader or truck bed camper.

For your 2012 Ford F-350 I recommend the Air lift Loadlifter 5000 Ultimate # AL88396. I prefer the ultimate kit because the air bags feature internal jounce bumpers. This adds stability, and also acts as a failsafe if you ever were to lose pressure. 5000 lbs of capacity is more than enough for a 15K camper, and you will not be coming close to over-burdening the bags.

You also have the option of adding an on board compressor. For that I recommend the Air Lift Wireless compressor # AL25980. This is a single path compressor that can be controlled with the included remote, or via the Air Lift smartphone app. The smartphone app is very nice to have. Not only does it give you full control at your fingertips, but you have access to real time diagnostics that standard compressors do not offer.

I have linked a few of our install and review videos below if you want to take a look.

Same question but different specs. I have a 2026 F350 DRW and I am pulling a 5th wheel, Alliance 372rk. Fully loaded the camper is 16800# and the pin weight is approx 3000-3200#. The payload of my truck is 5300#. Am I safe with the 5000 or should I step up to the 7500?

@Steve Honestly for that I would lean towards the 7,500 just so you wouldn't be working them as hard. Sounds like your pin weight would be under 5K but you would be cutting it close. The 7,500 gives you a bit of a safety net, so that is what I would go with. I recommend the following: - Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL83DQ Were you wanting to do an onboard compressor as well?

@JesseM Yes, I would want the compressor as well. I have a 2026 F350 Platinum dually. I am assuming the 2025 kit will work, is that correct?

@Steve Yes it will fit the 2025 and 2026 model as well. Typically I recommend Bluetooth compressors so as long as you are up for controlling and monitoring with your smartphone, I recommend the following: - Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Bluetooth - EZ Mount # AL58WQ
