Is There a Repair Kit for a 2-5/16" Trailer Coupler

Question:

I have a trailer that needs a 2 5/16 repair kit for the coupler. Is there anyway to determine which repair kit I need? Trying not to replace the whole thing.

I don't think anyone really wants to replace their coupler when the latching mechanism is bad or worn but, it's unfortunately a must since they don't make universal trailer coupler repair kits. There are trailer coupler repair kits available but, they are for very specific couplers which is not likely one you have. That said, we do have bolt-on options so you don't need to worry about finding a welder, you'll just need to cut/grind the old one off. I recommend the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Trailer Coupler part # DM16680-52 for replacement which has a very easy to use latching system that we have found to be plenty durable. It can then be paint matched to your trailer frame once installed.

I have a 2 5/16 coupler and it's missing the one on there is welded and layered in cutting and welding on a new one is out of the question. It has a slot on the top where the latch once was can I drill that slot out to use the replacement coupler repair kit I don't have the option of replacing the entire coupler hitch assembly.
