Recommended RV Stereo For Great Sound Quality

Question:

Hey Kevin, Great video, thanks so much. Can you tell me what system you installed? It looks like what I’m looking for. I don't need or want the dvd player but want the hdmi connections and really appreciate quality sound, so any recommendations, and it doesn’t have to be Jensen, would be appreciated. I love the plate that you made, so simple. Thanks,

The stereo in my video was the Jensen JWM30 or # JEN25RR if you look it up by our product numbers. It's a great option if you're just wanting to listen to music and don't need a DVD player. It has an HDMI input on both the front and back to allow you to easily hook in or hide your wires in the cabinet.

When it comes to RV stereos I'm going to have to stick with Jensen since they seem to have the fewest issues. I typically deal with a lot of troubleshooting with other brands of stereos, whereas with the Jensen brand I'm usually just going over how to wire in a new stereo. If I had to choose a stereo for you I'd say the # JWM60A if you want to be able to watch DVD's later on or the # JEN25RR if you're just using the stereo for music.

The plate I made out of wood is really simple to do, but you could get yourself a much nicer piece of material to make your blank out of and make it look factory. Since electronics have greatly reduced in size over the years I've been applying this concept to a lot of other items to help cover up the gaps when replacing parts in trailers or motorhomes.

A bit of an odd situation and asking for help. We have 2 campers laid out in an L-shape and built a great room around them (Deer Camp). We use a 12 volt Marine battery to power a Boss 550 that just died. It has always been difficult as it glitches and says goodbye. When it comes back on the volume jumps and it says goodbye again... It also loses Bluetooth connection and does the same. We have a box attached that allows us to switch it to 3 zones.. The speakers are very old small shelf speakers. The issue is we don't have a vehicle of any kind just a good battery that goes home and gets recharged once in awhile. So the size of the radio doesn't matter, we just need something that we can listen to the local stations on and use bluetooth when desired. I was looking at the Jensen JEN25RR and wondered if it would work for us? We don't know if amperage, wattage, ohms or something else needs to be considered in order for a radio to work in our situation. Please help use with a logical choice? Thank you.

@JeffF When a stereo completely loses power the settings on it should revert back to factory settings, like you were just pulling it out of the box, which is why your losing your connection. With it losing power it's likely not immediately shutting off but running at a slightly lower voltage than it needs causing the wacky jumps in volume and it glitching on and off. It a stereo is repeatedly running on lower voltage than it requires it could end up permanently damaging it. The Jensen # JEN25RR can run off of your 12v marine battery and would have a 6W capacity for four speakers. You can look at the wattage for the speakers to see if this will be enough or if you'll need to pick up a amplifier # POWER760 as well. This stereo would be good for listening to local radio, but can also play music from a smart device using a Bluetooth connection, USB cable, or HDMI cable. I would also look into some way to keep that battery charged up to avoid any further issues with the stereo. If you have shore power at your campsite then you can go with a small plug-in charger like the # 329-GENIUS2D. If you have no shore power then you could look into a solar panel system that's small enough to just keep the battery charged up.
