I have a 2023 Ford Ranger with 7-way on the bumper. I need a brake controller and do not want to hardwire one and am not really sure about the reliablity and security of the plug in one on the bumper. Are there any other options?

Yes, there is another option to add a brake controller to your Ranger. Since you have the factory tow package, I recommend the Curt Echo In-Line Wireless Brake Controller item # C79DR. The controller plugs in behind your 7-way with included connectors. This will completely eliminate any need to hardware a controller.

The Echo In-Line is a proportional brake controller that slows or stops your trailer when your Ranger decelerates. It uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone so you will never have to worry about losing signal. If your phone dies it automatically uses the default settings you program in.
