Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring for Towing Trailer With 2017 Ford Escape Titanium
Updated 09/15/2022 | Published 09/14/2022 >
Question:
I didn’t buy it with the tow package. I need to be able to pull a small enclosed trailer. Is there an issue with getting a hitch installed and anything else necessary on my vehicle and pulling this trailer. If not what would the maximum weight I would want to haul. The vehicle only has 24,000 miles

There won't be an issue installing a hitch and wiring on your 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. As long as the trailer does not exceed the capacity of the hitch or your vehicle you will be fine.
For a hitch I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866. This hitch features a matte black powder coat finish which provides more of an OEM look. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs.
For the most reliable wiring harness, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118715. This plugs into connection points behind your tail lights so no cutting or splicing is required. Once installed, you will have a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights.
In order to complete your setup you will also need a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some installation and review videos for your reference.
