Will Wireless Camera System Work on Horse Trailer & Truck Camper

Updated 09/07/2022 | Published 09/06/2022

Question:

This unit is expensive. I tried wireless but a much cheaper unit before. furrion range is supposed to be 400 feet. vehicle 2012 ford f350 diesel with 8 11 inch arctic fox camper installed in bed of truck. we haul our horses in a steel horse trailer. 1999 Logan three horse with tack room 17 feet long three feet of tongue, one steel wall between tack room and horse area. one divider in horse area about two feet wide when closed during travel. steel rear doors of course, 8000 gross weight installed a back up camera with coax cable to cab. frankly camera is almost useless as being backup only cant see much detail beyond 40 feet. almost impossible to see car behind you until its right behind you. or a tree, wall, post whatever. do you think furion system will work

Dense objects can interfere with the signal of the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras - 7" Screen # FCE48TASL-05, and what you described places a lot of dense objects between the rear camera and the monitor.

I think it's likely to be okay most of the time, but things such as overheard electrical wires can also interfere, so you may run into situations where the signal cuts in and out. Honestly, I think the best thing you can do is go with a wired system that will guarantee you have the vision you are looking for:

- Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup # RVS-770614

The # RVS-770614 has a 7 inch digital monitor like the Furrion, and a pair of cameras that have a 130 degree viewing angle which will allow you to see behind you. You will also be able to see further than 40 measly feet with this system, as even at night, the infrared vision on the cameras give you 50 feet of viewing.
