Can Reese Goose Box Replace Curt Helux on Alliance Paradigm 340RL

Updated 02/04/2025 | Published 01/28/2025

Question:

Hello and thanks for hosting this QandA section! Ive purchased an Alliance Paradigm 340RL that is being built. It is coming equipped with the new Curt Helux kingpin. Ill be towing with a 2024 F350 SRW short bed with OEM puck system. I will be installing a RetraxONE MX retractable tonneau cover. Will this neck replace the Curt Helux? How many degrees of turn angle will I be able to achieve while backing? Will it clear the rear window and the bed rails?

Hey Mike! To answer your first question yes, the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP59KR can replace the Curt Helux. This is compatible with the Rhino bolt pattern which is the same thing the Helux fits.

I don't see bed rail clearance being an issue on your 2024 F-350 but it doesn't hurt to check. The # RP59KR measures 20-1/4" from the center hole to the bottom of the gooseneck coupler. Once you have the trailer you can use this measurement to determine if you will have the required 5"-6" clearance for the bed rails as seen in the picture below.

Cab clearance is probably the main problem with the short bed. I don't have a way to determine the exact degrees for the turn angle but we can find if you will be able to clear the cab during 90 degree turns using the following formula:

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from center of gooseneck ball to truck cab
B = Length of Offset
C = Width of trailer divided by 2

When you plug your numbers into the formula you need it to come out to at least 4 to have the proper clearance. If you find that you don't have enough clearance run the formula with an offset ball (I'm assuming you don't already have one) like the Curt Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C68ZV or Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford OEM Puck Systems - 5" Offset # GY43XR. The 4" or 5" measurement would be added in as B in the formula. More than likely this will be enough to allow you to clear the cab. If you don't already have them you will also need the Curt Safety Chain Loops # C60691.

If you have any additional questions don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.
