The best replacement tire for your boat trailer is the Castle Rock ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # LHCK105. However, this does have a speed rating of L for 75 mph. This tire is constructed with double steel belts and double nylon plies. It also has ribs with breaks and sipes on the tire tread which will improve the tire performance in wet conditions. It comes with a 5-year warranty along with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years.
If you have to have an M speed rating for 81 mph then I would instead recommend the Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10208. This won't have the same performance level with the tread but is still a quality tire. This tire also comes with a 5-year warranty and has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.
Regarding radial vs bias ply, I would almost always choose radial tires. This is definitely true for a boat trailer. The radial tires will have better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear. They also generally outlast bias ply tires. Bias ply tires have a stiffer sidewall so they are a good choice for applications like agricultural use.
