I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e85AR for your 2012 Jeep Liberty. This is our only receiver with the matte black powder coating that gives it a factory look since it matches the trim. It also has a 2" receiver for a wider variety of hitch mounted accessories and ball mounts.

You will want to install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118554 when you install the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector that you can use with most small trailer to control the trailer lights. If you have a hitch mounted accessory that impairs the view of your you can use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 so other drivers will be able to clearly see your tail lights.
