Troubleshooting Hooks on Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack Not Holding

Question:
I have the Swagman xtc2. The retaining hook does not hold and will even slide completely off, even with a lock on it, rendering it useless. Is there an upgrade or a fix for this?

It sounds like either the upright or the hooks are stripped on your Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack # S64670. If the ridges on the upright look worn then you need to replace that with part # P321 but if that looks fine then you need to replace the ratcheting hooks with part # P186.
If you're looking for an upgrade then you're looking at a newer bike rack. The XTC2 is a decent bike rack in it's own right but it's more of a cost-effective solution. For something that is built a little better for longevity I recommend checking out the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64670. Check out the review video to see its additional features and upgraded quality.
