Falcon 2 Tow Bars Lock Up and Are Difficult To Remove When Disconnecting From Vehicle
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Are the auto lock arms supposed to stay stiff and locked once you start pulling the vehicle and driving?
asked by: Liza R
Expert Reply:
Yes, the arms of the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 will extend and lock into position when you start pulling your vehicle. The bars can often be difficult to release when you go to disconnect the tow bars from the towed vehicle when you get to your site. Often times you will need to either physically push the towed vehicle forwards and back to get the release pin to disconnect or use a RoadMaster Release Tool # RM-066 to get the pin to drop.
The best option is to step up to the non-binding Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522. With this set of bars they still lock in place like the Falcon 2 when you begin to tow, but they do not bind up and make disconnecting much easier. As an added benefit they have channels built into the tow bars for running your electrical and safety cables to protect them from catching on any road debris.
