Trailer Running Lights Not Working when Connected to 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with a factory tow package Hitch receiver and harness, and the trailer lights are not working. I have had this condition several times in the past, and it was corrected by taking it to the dealer and they turned on or enabled the wiring harness. It has been covered by warranty in the past, but my vehicle is now out of warranty. Is there any way for me to access the controls to enable the wiring harness? This appears to be a common issue on the KL series Cherokees as well as other Jeep vehicles. Is anyone aware of any service bulletins on this issue?

I have talked to my co-workers and it does appear to be a very common issue for 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawks. From what we have found that if you go to the dealership they can re-flash the computer to get it to work again. We are not sure why the computer keeps losing the data, but that might be part of the issue.
Since this has been an ongoing issue, you could try to contact the service center to see what they can do for you.
Another option for you would be to install a completely different wiring harness, like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118605, to try to bypass the issue.
