Is Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket Compatible With Yakima Round Cross Bars

Question:

I dont have a factory roof rack but I do have a yakima setup for my bikes. Can this rack work with the yakima round crossbars? Thanks.

The Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part # TH859XT, will fit Yakima round cross bars. You will need to make sure to move your crossbars to have proper spacing for the roof rack to mount as specified in the instructions. Thule specifies that the cross bars be spaced between 20 inches and 37 inches apart when measured center to center.

Do you have a video or specific recommendations on how to mount to a round Yakima cross bar?

The basket will mount to round bars, just like other bars. Just make sure the cross bar spread, center of bar to center of bar, is at or close to one of the following measurements 26-1/4, 30, 33-3/4 or 37-1/2. As long as your bars are within an inch or so of these measurements, the basket should fit fine. I have included a link to a video where we attach this basket to a set of Yakima round bars mounted on a 2012 Kia Sedona.
