How to Wire Pollak 2-Pole Trailer Wiring Connector # PK12800
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
The two pole plug with spring only has empty brass receptacles, no threading, no way to attach a wire. Am I to believe that I am to just push wire in there and then clamp the guard down over the jacket to achieve a good connection? This technique would not be a electrically solid connection... defeating the point of using heavy gauge wire. Therefore, this cannot possibly be the correct way. The brass is too thick to allow any kind of crimped connection, and also to much of a heat sink to use solder. So what gives.. how would you guys wire this kind of heavy duty plug? If it cant be wired by your average handy guy - why even sell it as a separate piece... Id have bought one wired if I knew this would be so... impossible. Am I missing a part here? Also the inside of the terminal isnt a standard size so no NPT pipe would be able to go over a slightly smaller wire to fill the gaps.

On the 2-pole connector # PK12800 there is a set screw on the bottom, face end, of the connector. Remove this small screw with a flat screwdriver and you can pull out the terminals of the connector. On the other end you would route your wires (make sure the clamp set screw is loose) and pull them through to the now open end of the connector.
Then you will solder the wires to the terminals. When finished, push the hole assembly back inside the housing and replace the set screw. Then tighten the clamp set screw to complete the process. I have included a video covering this process, minus the soldering, for you.
