Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Americana 17 1/2 inch by 6 3/4 inch black steel dual wheel, has the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a heavy-duty steel wheel, it is designed for use on dual wheel trucks, buses, and trailers, and it is a steel wheel. It is a two handhold design, you can see the two handholds right here. And this wheel is sturdy and corrosion resistant. Now, it does have a high offset, which allows the wheel to be used as either an inner wheel, which would be this position when it's installed, or an outer wheel, which would be this position on a dual wheel setup.

The offset on this is gonna be positive or -5.59 inches, depending on how it's used as an inner and outer wheel. And the offset is always measured from the center line of the wheel to the mounting surface. So the 5.59 offset allows this wheel to be positioned closer to your trailer frame when it's used as an inner wheel. So when it's used like this on your setup, it'll move the tire and wheel assembly closer to your trailer frame. If you use this wheel in the outer position, the offset's gonna ensure that it'll sit further away from the trailer frame towards the outside of your trailer.

The rim dimension, inside to inside it's measured, is 17 1/2 inches. And just to show you, if we put a ruler on that, there's your 17 1/2 inch diameter. The width on the wheel is always measured inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. So if I put a ruler on that, 6 3/4 inches wide. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

And if you wanna measure the bolt pattern, it's pretty simple on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, because if you noticed, if I turn around this way, you'll see that the lug holes are directly across from each other. So it makes it pretty simple. So when you go to measure it, all you do is pick one hole, let's say this one. Measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches, so it's an 8 lug, 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Weight capacity on this wheel is 6,200 pounds. If you noticed, it does have a nice black powder coat finish on it over an e-coat primer, gives you excellent corrosion resistance. And this wheel is a hub piloted wheel. And what that means, it'll center on the hub of your application, not the lugs. Basically, this pilot hole right here, when you put it on there, it'll center exactly into this pilot hole diameter, which is 4.76 inches. It won't use the lugs to center it. So if you noticed, the lug holes, they don't have a bevel to it, because what they do is it'll require the use of flange nuts for installation. Now, the flange nuts are not included, we do sell those separately on our website. The flange nuts size you use is a 5/8 inch by 18 size flange nut. And just to show you what we're talking about, I'll popup an insert. That's what a flange nut would look like. This wheel is a sturdy steel construction. The wheel does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications.
