Anchor vs Hooks For Yakima Fullback Installation on 2020 RAV4?
Question:
I understand that the Yakima instructions recommend the anchor method rather than hooks for my RAV4. The hooks seem to work fine on a RAV 4 hatch and are easier to install, so its not obvious why the anchor method is recommended for this vehicle and not all others. Is there a simple explanation for when anchors are recommended instead of hooks?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Manufacturers prefer to recommend that you do not use the hooks if possible just because they are what most likely causes damage to the vehicle when using trunk mounted racks like the Yakima Fullback 3 # Y02633. This does not always happen but they recommend against it just so you aren't purchasing a product that may damage your vehicle. If it's working for you I don't see a reason to switch it up.
