Can a 2013 Kia Soul Be Used To Tow A 1800lb Boat Trailer?

Question:

What is the recommended trailer hitch going onto 2013 Kia Soul that will be pulling a Bayliner M15. The trailer and boat total weight is about 1800 lbs. I am not sure of the tongue weight but it should be less that 200 lbs. Also, does anything else need to be done to the Kia other than installing the hitch?

After checking the owner's manual of your 2013 Kia Soul I found that Kia does not recommend towing with your vehicle, and as such I do not recommend towing your boat trailer with your vehicle, and recommend instead using a different vehicle rated for towing.

If you decide to tow with your Kia Soul you would need the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24839 which has a 200lb tongue weight rating and 2000lb trailer weight rating.

You would also need a 4-way connector # 118637, Drawbar # 3593, and 1-7/8" hitch ball # 19256 or 2" hitch ball # 19258 to match the coupler of your trailer.
